Changes to flash
#16
Currently it's pretty easy to get flashes and sunglasses. So I don't see any reason to "nerf" or change them at all.

What if the answer to having too many stuns is adding more stuns?

Like if you changed the flash to do anything besides stun your target, I'd just punch them instead because it takes like 2/3 punches on average to put someone in a completely helpless state while doing damage on top of it unless you're punching a security officer and even then you still might be able to knock them out if you get a crit or 2.

It's not so much the stuns I have a problem with. It's the availability of flashes combined with their ease of use and concealment. It's the way they make sunglasses a necessity for any chance of danger

2/3 punches is still more time to react than a flash provides

I'm trying to think of flash locations and the only two I can think of that are easily accessible by anyone is the one in the warehouse and tech storage, with you needing to hack the robotics fabricators or otherwise steal from sec/heads of staff or scan and produce in mechanics for more which puts them in about marginally more accessibility than harder stun weapons but with several ways to nullify them (sunglasses, Welding mask, psychological warfare because most people who do bad things won't try to flash someone if they can't see their face because they can't see if they have glasses/wearing the bad sunglasses). And with that in mind I don't see an issue with either their functionality or availability when you consider how many people these things have to be shared between and how few people actually do/know about the robotics manufacturer thing.

Additionally, I find it's helpful to ask when you're referring to any tool used to try and disable someone, asking yourself "What does this provide that just punching them doesn't?" helps immensely. If your opportunity cost of just hitting them (no prerequisite needed, takes 2/3 hits to make completely vulnerable, inflicts some damage which will reduce walkspeed, always available barring tragedy that would kill you anyway.) is greater than the benefit you would get by using the object, you have just made said tool useless and never used again which is usually a bad thing.

Replace handheld flashes with pepper spray, replace floor flashers with tesla shockers, remove blindness from the game entirely.

I can get behind all of this.

Bonus idea.

The ability to use pepper sprays on food.

Instant spicy food.

Here's what I got from this:

* Flashes are both over and under powered. Could use reworking

* Stuns are almost always dumb unless it's from security. Make stuns more rare

* Movement is too wacky fast, make stamina required for running
(Perhaps you cant regain energy whilst passive running)

Bonus from me:

* Make stamina more important of a factor other than for chair melee

Movement is fine infact better than ever. Running already requires stamina. Making things realistic does not lead to fun in this game.

Edit: I assume you meant sprinting but in the case you are not and talking about the normal speed I have to say that is a awful, awful idea. Why? Cause it would make the game slow down to a halt almost. Having no stamina regen while at normal speed is also awful as let's say you have no stamina from sprinting away from a attacker. He'll just wait till you use it all while spiriting, run up to you and one hit k.o you.

This is supposed to be about flashes how did we even get to this topic? This has to be the first time I've seen anyone complain about the new movement.

I'm good with it but the fact you can pretty much be the flash and dodge anything is kinda iffy. Spit balling is what I do best, good ideas are rare

If you think we are the flash now you should have been around for the OMJ Shoes and Triple Meth combo.

im gonna be honest i think at the moment flashes really can't be nerfed without causing major problems with the balance of power, id be all for something taking its place as long as it's also a one hit stun weapon with a counter but some sort of debuff weapon just isn't worth it unless the debuff is stronger than a stun.

The flash is a covert weapon; it's only OP against unalarmed or incapacitated opponents. It's the same for other 1-tile weapons, really. Ever see a baton duel? Most of mine are me and another dork running back and forth, passed eachother, for a minute and a half until one of us gets lucky or bored.

1-click stuns are primarily beneficial to antags thanks to their unmitigated right of first blood, giving them an even bigger advantage. That said, I'll reiterate that I don't really have a problem with flashes thanks to my neurotic playstyle.

Isn't your playstyle to get naked and die?
