Jumpsuit attachments/Camera Overhaul/PDA imageboard
#1
Jumpsuit attachments
jumpsuit attachments offer a less permanent alternative to implants. They would be accessible via right click. and would also get people using underused items.
Here's a list of what attachment would do what...
  • [GPS] lists your location on the gps readout/alerts you of GPS distress calls.
  • [Image sensor(see camera overhaul)] broadcasts a 3x3 image of whats around you
  • [Bike horn] every time you are touched there is a honk.
  • [Butt] Every time you are touched there is a fart
  • [Syndicate Chameleon module] same functionality as chameleon jumpsuit(replaces it)
  • [Medical analyser] alerts people nearby if you are hurt/dead
  • [Flashlight] works like normal
  • [Radio] works like normal
  • [atmos analyser] alerts when o2 low/ toxins high
  • [t ray scanner] works like normal
  • [Paper] when you are examined, this message also appears
  • [Powercell] When you receive electric shocks the powercell is recharged
  • [Tracking Beacon] Lets people teleport to you
  • [Fish] When people are near you they very occasionally get a message about something smelling fishy
  • [mousetrap] when you are touched, toucher will be mousetrapped(1 use only)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Camera Overhaul

cameras should take 3x3 pictures

screwdriver + camera opens up camera letting you see a menu of attachment options

Image sensor(won't function without)--->
  • [standard image sensor] lets you take standard pictures
  • [eyeball] ????
Image output(won't function without)--->
  • [picture printer] a picture is printed when you take a photo (10 max)
  • [communications uplink] uploads photo to PDA imageboard
  • [Brain] ????
  • [Detomax cartridge] camera explodes when a picture is taken
attachments (can have up to three)--->
  • [radio] attaches a caption of whatever was said closest to the picture being taken [5 seconds max or no caption](viewable by examining photo)
  • [GPS] attaches the coords of where picture was taken to photo (viewable by examining photo)
  • [sheet of x material] puts an overlay of the material color over the picture
  • [Banana] puts a banana in every photograph
  • [Fake moustache] puts a fake moustache in every photograph.
  • [Flash] makes camera work like a flash, as well as it's other functions
  • [Optical Meson Scanner] adds meson effect
  • [Optical Thermal Scanner] adds thermal effect
  • [sunglasses] adds sunglasses effect
  • [ProDoc Health Goggles] adds health hud effect
  • [VISOR] adds visor effect
  • [VR goggles] a camera appears in your hand when you enter VR(if you are holding camera of course)
  • [remote signaler]takes a picture when signal is recieved
  • [proximity sensor] takes a picture when camera is stepped on
  • [igniter] camera sparks when a picture is taken

Emagging the camera makes any future pictures taken be distorted

PDA imageboard
to make this work there would need to be a camera PDA module.

in messages there would be a section labeled something more imaginative than "imageboard"

any images you take with pda camera automatically get uploaded to the image board, which can then be commented on.

This would be pretty funny. would be moderated by research director. (via special pda software that you need RD access to access)

Imagined uses:
clown spams loads of banana pictures and gets banned by RD. Clown gets revenge and steals RDs pda and ID and continues spam
Security put up wanted posters
botany advertise their new crop of omegaweed
Staff assistant puts up live pictures from wrestling match
syndicate make fake reports

Likely use: massive spam for 5 rounds, completely unused except for traitor gimmicks. frown

I do like the idea of doing something to modify jumpsuits and cameras-- it would be cool, if a bit niche. PDAs, you can already harass people with images anyway if you're clever, I don't see the imageboard getting much use.

It probably would get used if there was a PDA beep telling you someone posted something on the imageboard. also put some damn cameras in our PDAs, cellphones have them now it only makes sense for fancy space PDAs to have them.

I can see so much use for it.
Imagine it having the same functionality as the radio, but with pictures.
It'd make people respond to situations better.
when they can see theres a hull breach in a photo they go and fix it.
when they can see what the murderer looks like, they know who to avoid.
when they can see the cool stuff going on in the chapel, they actually go.
A picture is worth a thousand words.
this would make traitor gimmicks and admin events FAR better.
creepy images start being posted without a sender.
Somebody has the captain tied up and is asking for a ransom.
you get the idea.

Whenever I'm sec I always value descriptions of suspects. It's very easy to change one's clothes or put on a mask, but almost no one bothers to change their hair, for instance.

An imageboard would be very useful for this.

The detective gets a camera now and look at how often he takes pictures of suspects.

The difference is having a camera attached to everybody's pda and a system where anybody with a pda can see that photo(imageboard would work well).
communication-wise, physical photos are to digtal photos, what letters are to telephone conversations.
imagine if there was no radio and the crew could only send letters to communicate?
well imagine if there was no way of sharing photos on your pda and the crew has to send the photo around and you only have one copy of it.
this is the current situation and it doesn't make sense.

The Detective also has a gun, and one of those things is going to be more fun for them to use.

it would be less for the detective and more for witnesses of crimes. dont want to fight a dude? snap a picture of him and run the fuck away and post it on the imageboard warning people, and then hope security does its job.

Right. Which is going to be much more important on this bigger station that's being cooked up.
