Wizards need some improvement bigtime

Maybe skeletons could be really hard to destroy, but fairly easy to delimb. If a skeleton is left near a limb that it is missing it can reattach it.

Having necromancy make a player zombie that is kinda like the current ones we have but can't infect people would be cool......Have an un-dying army of zombie shuffle and crawl to that assitant who is hiding in the corner.....Also make the time it takes for the zombie player to become alive again ALOT longer

Maybe the skeleton spell could, instead of making a critter/mob/whatever they are, make a skeletonized NPC with the same AI as hostile life reactions/liches and is friendly towards the wizard.

That still really isn't a big upgrade.....I really like the ablity to reform itself after a minute or so though.....If you combined that and your idea it would be perfect

The same could be said of using the standard "go kill shit" objectives to wizards all the time. The results are always "wizard dies stupidly in a stupidly short time" or "wizard kills fucking everyone for a long fucking time".

Is it really wrong to wish that wizard had more substance to it than that? I don't recall a proper ritual having ever been part of Wizard. The Dark Ritual was just "MUMBO JUMBO NOW THERE'S SKULLS IN HERE THAT DON'T DO JACK BUT MAKE IT HARD FOR EVERYONE TO SEE, HUZZAH". That wasn't fun. Having to collect a rubber chicken, a vial of plasma, the ass of a monkey, and a pair of clownshoes and set them all in a circle of salt inside a magically barricaded room (provide a spell that allows, after a long chanting period that can be shortened by the Cthulu staff like used to be the case, a wizard to set up a shielded box that lasts roughly as long as a decent forcewall artifact and gives enough space to work in if the wiz doesn't fuck up placement), have them say the magic words, and kapow, success, in whatever form is most interesting. Maybe it empowers the wiz to be a horrible magical monster, maybe it ends the round in a spectacle of eldritch chaos, or maybe you can be lame and it just grants them a wish or something, I don't know.

The alchemy circle proves this kind of thing is possible in-game already, I just want to see it given a practical application.

Animate Dead Suggestions:

-In D&D (yes I am that nerd) Animate Dead can animate a fairly substantial number of bodies at once. Perhaps make it so every dead body and possibly dead critter in a decent area gets reanimated. Would require some prep but it could be a fairly nice ace-in-the-hole for a wizard after a bloody battle, or a wizard who's okay pulling the Slasher-villain trick of taking bodies with them and stashing them someplace.

-Give skeletons a chance of inflicting a non-contagious but serious disease on hit (grave fever? MRSA?). They are, after all, dead bodies. And dead bodies tend to get pretty nasty.

-Skeletons attack by clubbing you with their hands, right? Well what if they clawed you, giving you temporarily bleeding wounds until you could heal yourself? Or if they broke off pieces of their bones into you like bullets and shrapnel, requiring impromptu surgery?

-Give Skeletons the random talking/sound that Skullbots get. Some of you might choose the spell just to annoy people with it.

-If not implementing regeneration, perhaps lower the cooldown on Animate Dead and allow the spell to reanimate any dead skeletons the crew has already killed?

The most fun antagonist gimmick is to be an annoying dickweed. Pandemonium and rathen's secret are the best spells bar none.

Wizard rituals would make a nice new mechanic.
With ingredients from the station and a belt with the catalysts for the ritual on the shuttle.
Different rituals could spawn assisting mobs, or make a room fill with arcane darkness to which the wizard is immune. Toxic fumes from chem ingredients, gravitational/magnetic pulsers from electronics, or a pipe coming out of nowhere and spewing magical slippery mud around.

Also,
corruption spell: It corrupts any item the wiz targets/is holding in a hand.
Pills and patches of chems become poisonous, drinks and food become rotten and give you food poisoning making you puke everywhere. Rusting walls to bash them down. Bee eggs become hornet nests.

Someone once though up the idea of a whiches cauldron where you put a bunch of stuff (Chems, food, bricks, assitants) and tapped it with a staff magical things would happen good or bad....Alot of people liked it but it never happened

Noah Buttes Wrote:Honestly, in my opinion, fireball should stay unnerfed.

It's a spell for people who are bad at being wizards, like soulguard.

I don't think it should knock people unconscious. Knocking someone down and setting them on fire is more than powerful enough.

If everyone goes with fireball and ice beam and shocking grasp, why not just nerf those a bit rather than making everything else better? I've never tried ice beam, but fireball is incredibly good, and shocking grasp instakills stunned people with no chance of revival.

With the corruption ritual removed, should the staff of cthulhu be given some new effect?

The staff of cthulu should be the only staff you need. Recall it to your hand at any time, even if it has been destroyed, as long as you have robes

In all honesty, I'd be alright with a wizard/wraith kind of mixed round. Let the wizards do the blasting while their incorporeal friends handle the rest.
