Excuse me, if you don't expect to be arrested for stuff like B&E you'll be Super Surprised.
Farting in the presence of an officer. Excessive honking. Cleaning an officer of the law with a spray bottle.
Were you the clown? Harassing the clown is normal.

Nope. Scientist.

I tend to never trust scientists and assume all of them are probably going to set everything on fire or gas eveyone. I'm usually right.

Paineframe Wrote:Ultimately, does it really matter? If indiscriminately issuing or enabling all-access IDs is banned for non-traitor HoPs but allowed for traitor HoPs, then it's useless as a tool for traitor HoPs because the detective will show up and shoot you to death as a "confirmed traitor" thirty seconds after you announce you're giving ID upgrades.
First off, I never said it was banned for non-traitor HoPs. I just said that it's typically a really, REALLY bad idea because giving any schmuck who bothers wandering down to Customs access to every single part of the station barring the Armory, since that's pretty much asking security to get raided and the bridge to get overrun and the station to devolve into lawless chaos.

Secondly, if you're a self-respecting HoP, you'll get the fuck out of dodge once people start getting suspicious of you.

what kind of dumb HoP has any self-respect?

It bears mentioning that sec shouldn't feel discouraged if they get admin PMs asking why they're doing something. It doesn't mean we think you're doing something wrong, but we still need to do the due diligence to make sure everything is fine.

What is the HoP if not a care-free man child with all access and a funny name?

Hell, to reinforce this point, observe how they constantly shirk responsibility to play dress-up and go on space adventures.

If their ID doesn't say security or Head of X on it, I really don't give a shit. Security has a hard enough time without idiots stealing everything not nailed down.

If your name is blue on this forum, I don't give a shit what you think about which rules should and should not apply. If I see you doing this, I'm going to give you a vacation. Savvy?

Normally I try to be a bit less confrontational about handling people, but there comes a time when a discussion isn't needed so much as someone being told what time it is.

Forgive my Devil's Advocation but considering one of the other sub-issues being brought up recently is HoPs giving all-access willy-nilly and/or leaving their ID in the computer and peacing out, the validity of the "Head-Granted" all-access can be a bit dubious at times.

A good question is why can the HoP give out security access anyway? just make it so only the HoS can hand out sec access, he should have the final say about who enters and exists security anyway. and most sec officers throw people out of sec even if they have access due to the fact that if you arent there to be sec you are probably stealing gear to be a vigilante or you are a traitor, which are both something that we are supposed to stop. I plan on obeying the admin ruling but I still think it should be changed.

I do hate it when HOP's leave their IDs in the pc and think that is a good substitute for doing their jobs.

I just want to post this from the HOP's wiki page.

The Anarchist: Tosses out all-access IDs to anyone who asks, and then prior to disappearing, leaves their own ID in the ID Computer. Generally most crewmembers will respond to an unfamiliar presence barging into their office with a gentle toolboxing. As fights escalate security will find it difficult to assist after all of their gear has been looted. The anarchist HoP hopefully will have fled the station before the Captain and security wise up and strap him to an electric chair.

This type of behavior has been around with the Job since time immemorial in the same way of how things are treated with the captain. But if you want the HOP to stop giving out Security access or all access. The moment you find out he is doing then start breathing done his throat to stop. If you are a captain or a HOS he has to listen to you.

I like this idea, modulo some sort of way to grant the access if the HoS isn't around. Like allowing sec access to be placed on an ID with either the HoS approving it, OR three heads in the absence of an HoS. Maybe only allow the three-heads approval if the round started without an HoS, but I'm not sure if that's possible from a code standpoint. Hm.

For that matter, why not extend this to important places in general, like the bridge and the Head offices? A bit less capability for Bad Things there, but access to the comms console can lead to some undesirable shenanigans in the wrong hands.
