Allow Quantum telescope to find signal and contact Foreigner Trader .
Once you found it you can save to QM console and QM can interact with.
with simulate NPC dialouge to communication the better answer / offer will effect the Goods they sell.
Once trade - increase relationship enough the NPC will come visit station and open market sell in very good price.
This might be fun for QM who try to make a deal money style gameplay.

This is definitely better then just the current RNG, could be a nice addition.
Also, if cargo also get a telescope, we would have a network of people looking through it, so everyone benefits from the higher usage.
Otherwise this shouldn't break anything, as long the plutonium core is excluded.

Could be an interesting way to introduce exotic items to Cargo for buying. I have been of the opinion that Cargo should have some 'end game' purchasing options that might cost a ton.
However, I'm not sure I agree with the idea of 'giving' Cargo a Quantum Telescope.
Might be better to just let cross departmental cooperation be the key to that success. (Or even ask an engineer to build one for you.)

...You just traded RNG for a new RNG. The only difference is... the foreign trader is now permanently unlocked for the shift.
I think this idea is a bad idea. It's already a fight who uses the telescope between science and mining....

How exactly is science and mining fighting?
While not most stations have a double telescope, it is mech scannable, so it's childish to fight over it.
In the end, more people scanning will just find more, everyone profits.
For trading RNG for RNG, I didn't said the current will be replaced by it, it could just be a decent addition.
Especially if cargo got nothing going on, looking for a way to spend their bazillions.

There is obscure trick with the quantum telescope.
You discard asteroid after asteroid, after you have done this you can select rarer/higher tier asteroids on the "You Found an additional signal" option, one of which is a Starstone Asteroid.
What's important is that accepting an additional signal asteroid resets the counter, so a miner who's gunning for Starstone can get rather miffed at a scientist either messing around with the telescope or looking for teleport locations.
Adding QM's to the list of people who can mess with this nerdy process is what would cause most fights about the quantum telescope.
[Also Non-miners choosing additional signal asteroids that the miners don't want or don't need]

1. That's not how that works, you do not discard asteroids and instead just ignore the bonus ones you get after iirc 5 and after 15 asteroids seen total you can pull in starstone and after 20 nanites. and no, it does not need patching, it's fine and making messing with infusions going to a casino is not a good thing. If anything Gragg's buying price could be changed.
2. The idea's fine, not all that bad really. QM is a nifty job in a really weird spot of being useless 90% of the time for all crew while really useful in theory and in a real weird balance spot. I think this could be a neat step in the right direction though obviously it'd need more traders implemented. I believe Cog had a set of like 6 pictures for traders they never got around to implementing, a good handful I think would fit right in to telescope signals.

I not sure about the comment feedback here seem like disscuss about scientist and miner fight between quantum use.
seem like not relate to my topic much since my point is just add addition signal into quantum telescope in exchange for add more interaction for other department like QM which might give more supply to station and make more NPC trader merchant are more interest for everyone.since both department are gain benefit.
QM can gain trader / Miner can gain astroid both can help eachother reach thier goal so i not sure what you mean about fighthing stuff .
