New wizard spell ideas thread
#16
A summoning spell that spawns some horrible monster (or converts a person into one killing them?) that takes 2 minutes to cast and also causes an station wide alert when you start casting similar to a large bomb artifact. You cant move or do any other spellls whilst casting it so your very vulnerable. The idea being that you would probably need several wizards working together to pull it off. The monster that appears will probably kill you and most of the station.

Rajallahs revenge, a single target spell that dumps a smallish dose of rajallah into the victim.

Magic carpet - a deployable wizard only 'pod' that can be carried in a bag. Cant shoot spells from it.

Beepsky curse - sets target to arrest. Works on HOS. Possibly emags nearby beepskys.

Banish - teleports target off station Z level to a random location that has o2 (like diner, mining place etc).

Summon mob - teleports a random small group of staffies/clown/mime to you. Works in wizard shuttle. You dont get a refund if they robust you.

Cluwning a genuine clown should make the resulting cluwne have a slightly larger character sprite (grow ray effect). This should also stack. Cluwning an antag clown should make a floorcluwne that doesnt exist.

A golum spell that requires mining materials and a bit of assembly. Perhaps modifying existing spell and have chems still factor in. An erebite based golum would likely require some help from mining or the wizard to dedicate a fair chunk of the round to gathering the materials but would create a true radioactive highly explosive horror. The perfect way to add a bit of spice to medbay. Make a 'friendly' wizard hanging around mining just as suspicious as one in chem.

I think the wizards should have options that are not entirely based around right click robusting and direct combat, stuff that takes a bit of time and effort to put into place but has good results if you pull it off.

Just rework Bull Charge entirely. It's 33 BRUTE damage and maybe some more (like 7) if they hit a wall. Magic missile is 15 damage, auto targets multiple people and can be used from a safe range. The main issues with Bull Charge are that it's really narrow (1 tile), requires you to run around where your targets are and pray it will hit for only double the damage of magic missile and a brief knockdown. It doesn't provide any offensive or defensive advantage for four seconds and then only has a short duration for the ubll.
Usually people are going to be avoiding you or you don't want to get that close to them in case they have beakers/disarm your staff/sec batons.

My idea is to replace it with an American Football Kit style charge that is three tiles wide with macho man run style knockback into maybe a three second knockdown. This allows it to be both defensive and offensive and makes it much easier, safer and more effective. The downside would be that isn't particularly controllable for the wizard and might move you further than you want to go.

Tohme - Fires a silver ball projectile that ricohets off walls and objects. The more times it bounces before hitting a target, the more damage it does

Br'eybry - Drops several stacks of cash that rapidly decrease in value the longer they remain untouched. Pick them up and lock in the current value. If a wizard picks it up it immediately drops to a value of 1

Pygy Bak - The wizard turns someone into a mountable pig. The wizard has control when riding them, the player when not. Resisting can buck the wizard off for the player, the wizard can resist to counter this and get a speed boost

you know what just give the Br'eybry spell to all command members, seems fitting

A spell that deflects oncoming projectiles for like, 10 seconds, at the cost of you not being able to use any other spells for those 10 seconds.

EYALWACH DIZ - Detonates the caster with the force of a macrobomb.  Can be cast without a hat or robes.

ZEEK YBOOG YDOOG - Detonates the caster with the force of a nuke.

I jest. But on the serious side of things; maybe some sort of tandem spells? Like a spell to let a wizard empower another wizard? Could be a channeled thing - the wizard has to stand still or at least not cast other spells while empowering the other wizard - or something. But feel like maybe some sort of mechanism that could help promote wizards to cooperate more could be neat.

Something like a minor polymorph that changes people to a random mutantrace? Such as changing people from monkeys to squids. Or to something else, and maybe as an AoE, with a short stun? Sorry if it's a bad idea!

A bag of magical throwing knives that return to the thrower. Make sure not to drop them because crew members can disarm you of them and use them just as effectively as you could.

Just make it so staffless polymorph works this way. Being able to turn people into critters is way too powerful to do without a staff.

That's a way better name than mine, dang.  Real blast from the past there.

Shouldn’t stop them from specific emotes. Any interruption should break the spell.
Could be fun to work with but way too easily abused to frame someone for a rulebreak and yell racial slurs over the radio.

That probably would work! And yeah, it is way to powerful in its current state, especially since the only way to revive a critter without borgjng or SR is monkey cloning, and they are really fragile aswell.
