Maybe it could fit in something like an eye or head slot, with the rationale being that you're holding it in your mouth like a puppy. Then your speech would be kinda garbled while it's in there, maybe spitting it out if you have a lot to say.

While I really like this idea for smaller items in general, I do still think having lanyards be a thing is the best way to go about this.

They could be a general item that you find or buy and then attach the ID to.
