Integrating Crawling into Current and Future Abilities
#1
Hello!

After seeing another thread talking about using crawl under smoke to avoid ill effects, I realized that there was probably alot of functionality that we could look at for it.

Some initial ideas for current integration ideas, followed by future ideas for brand new features.

-Integrating with some stealth abilities. I.E. Chameleon currently only works if you are standing still. What if it worked if you are standing still OR crawling?

-Pressure sensors- Perhaps crawling over pressure sensors can mean they wont be set off, or have a chance of not being set off? perhaps the same with the laser security systems around the AI core?

New Ideas-

-A changeling ability that lets you move at almost full speed while crawling, but with some obvious animation or spriting like insect legs scurrying the torso about

-A wizard spell that forces crawling either permanently or for a definite period of time. Better or worse than cluwning? You decide!

-a new traitor item that is cheaper than the cloaking device but that only works while crawling

Feel free to tell me I'm an idiot below, or add your own ideas ! Some banjo thing somebody bought for some great re

Crawling under the vehicles and hitting Pull on them should let you cling to the underside, SPEED style.
for the buffer or pods this will let you ride along unseen. for segways and skateboards, well, uh...

When crawling, you should ignore anything that makes you slip, even space lube and ice

A way to grip the ground when on the floor to hold onto things and avoid being pulled by people, artifacts, space wind, etc

We have magnetic boots, maybe magnetic gloves?

This would provide more interactions between crawling, and other mechanics, making for more robust techniques/more layers of complexity. A yes from me.

I had something more in line with you just hold onto stuff, so you're steadied but can't move or use your hands.

That said, magnetic gloves could be useful for something like that as well as interactions with items and grabs

Had this idea the night character rotation was changed, but before crawling was added:

Using the IJKL keys to rotate your character rolls you along the ground depending on which way you rotate, probably one tile for each full IJKL combo. Faster than crawling, but more effort required?

Maybe something like a timed button press/skillcheck almost?

Rolling into someone could bowl them over

Rolling through doors as they close gives you a few more seconds to pass through, at the risk of crushing

Roll to your belly to get an aimed shot with guns. An aimed shot gets a bonus effect depending on the gun. For example, the hunting rifle could Gib the person's head

Roll onto your back and do crunches to improve your body

Dive out of gun fire, or away from explosions to take reduced damage

Hit the same keys  while standing to dodge attacks and reduce melee damage

Manual backflips and dives into the pool

Everything about this idea is really fucking stupid.

Code it immediately.

This is absurd and I love all of it.
