HoS Application: Star Aetherbeorn

I can say pretty confidently that I haven't noticed myself doing these things while swapping to Classic.

Usually I'm communicative with sec on what's going on most of the rounds, when something else isn't going on that needs my attention as cap.

I'm only ever called in as cap when I need to make a call for a captured antag, or when I need to help give chase said antag. Which I do.

I do know that I've been ignorative with sec in terms of Goon4, mainly because of the chaotic population. I have not noticed that in Classic.

Heya, you asked for a bit of a re-review since you switched to classic. This will not be shorter, I tried, but so as to not go over old ground I won't highlight specific stuff much. Please bear in mind this is again just my personal opinion, the admins and others are going to have their own, and the two key purposes of feedback here are to help give admins information about you that might help them know you better, and to give feedback you can act on.

So, I watched a few classic round with you as an officer and again like before you've generally been pretty consistent with how you play the officer role. I do think you're taking extra care compared to when I first watched for trying to balance your ability to events going on in the round  which is great and hopefully others are enjoying and might supply back here. I do also think as an aside you might also be enjoying the style of classic over RP more, which is pretty much why we have the two. Some people are going to thrive in one environment or find another more challenging, or jump between the two, or just like an occasional dip of the toe, but Classic's more direct situations seem to suit your style to the point where it is making you seem a little more relaxed.

Which I think would be the theme of my feedback to you: relax and enjoy the game. From further comments you've occasionally made on discord I personally feel that you're so passionate about wanting to be a HoS that I'm a bit concerned if you get approved find your expectations of the role not to match that. Alternatively, if you don't this time you may take it harder than it deserves to impact you. One example of this was making what I would usually assume was a comment in jest on the discord about worrying about having your application rejected on your birthday. I think it was a joke, but I want to try and impart my personal advice here of the role and applying in general to put too much of yourself into what is ultimately a funny role in a funny fart spaceman game.

I think if you haven't already, asking other HoSes will demonstrate that while it can be an absolute hoot, there's very little extra benefit in being a HoS not also available to officers, but unlike officers a lot more responsibility. The fact too, that applying more than once is more the norm than the exception. They might also talk about how easy it is to burn out in the role, or that understandably they sometimes just enjoy joining as an officer or another role entirely "as a bit of a break". Overall what make the HoSes we have great as players isn't that they've got the cool cape and gun (which are cool, don't get me wrong) but that they're willing to play a role that often has to sacrifice some of their own fun to make sure the round is having more fun.

I think you're capable of this, and that you're genuinely interested in doing that. I just also would really recommend if you do get approved this time around to appreciate it might not match what seems to be your enthusiasm and investment for it, more that your enthusiasm can bring something to the role. If you don't get approved that it does not merit feeling that investment was wasted: People are still going to remember your growth in a role and if you re-apply next time having learned and adapted from the first application run it can only add strength to your viability for the role and your maturity in wanting to go for it and making the effort to take on board what others have said. Either way, good luck and genuinely look forward to very occasionally catching you on classic.

Hi, thanks for the kind words again! I’m glad you’ve noticed some improvement since switching to Classic. You’re absolutely right, the environment suits me better with it's constant action. It’s helped me feel more at ease and focused, which I think has translated into more balanced and responsive play.

I also really appreciate the reminder about keeping things in perspective. I am passionate about the role and the game, but it’s good advice not to let that passion turn into pressure either on myself or the process. After all, I should be about contributing to the round’s fun, not just chasing a title.

Regardless of how this application goes, I’m genuinely grateful for the feedback and the chance to keep growing. Thanks again, and I hope to keep seeing you around on Classic too. ^^
