How to ruin an antagonists round: the basics
#16
Eh depends. I had a fun round where as a traitor mechanic I decided to mass produce cyalume sabers instead of going on a typical invisible crusher in the hallways. That worked out very well for me.
Another time I just ran around in syndicate command armor without doing anything and got immediately shot to death by bloodthirsty vigilantes.

If I'm HoS and I catch a traitor, I'll give them a fine and/or confiscate extremely deadly stuff, then let them go. Now if they're going on a rampage I just capture them and keep them until the shuttle arrives. I execute lings and vamps on sight for obvious reasons.

I know several HoS' who just execute and gib/space every antag no matter what.

Hello, just a few things to say/clear up.
First off, when you "keep them until the shuttle arrives" Do you mean "Early in the round" or "late in the round when the shuttle has been called"? Mainly because, if you do that early, you're following a modified rule 2 in the OP, bolt their ass in. Not fun.

Second, why would you kill a ling/vamp on sight? That's kind of rude. IMO HoS isn't there to supercop it up, as it appears you do, please tell me if i'm wrong and misunderstanding you.

Third and finally, please name the HoS-es who execute/gib/space every traitor they find, i'll put them on my personal shit list. They seem awful.

Also, unrelated, big thanks to everyone who is posting here, i expected alot of shut up and die posts. Thanks for not hating me. smile

Those rounds are always fun.

Anyways, my story: Was chilling in robotics with my wrestling belt and roboticist comrade. I step out into the hall, Detective takes a radbow, wrestling belt, and cloak from other antagonists he's killed, and slaughters me.

Tl;dr It's not about the destination, it's the journey.

Vamps/changelings can't be contained unless you Borg them or straightjacket them. Borging is the best while jacketing is borging for both parties. I'm not going to let a near-unstoppable space creature eat my crew if I catch them. It's unfun for the eaten and still pretty boring for the antag.

I seem to remember Cogworks trying to push a campaign to get people to not be boring antags/civvies by coming up with silly gimmicks as traitors and by not murdering traitors right off the bat as civilians, even going so far as to maybe try going along with their silly gimmick. I'm always afraid to be a silly gimmicky traitor because I worry I'll still get murdered for trying. The only time it seems like it's okay for me to be a traitor is if I'm signed on to help a telesci adventure, because my resources make it easier.

Of course, on the other side, if I'm ever stuck as sec I'm a little wary about giving traitors leeway because when they decide to start killing I know I'll be a prime target. I want to be able to play along with their shenanigans but I don't want to be murdered in a boring way either.

4 out of the 5 times when I have tried to gimmick as an antag I got murdered right off the bat by vigilantes.

sometimes I wonder why I try, but then I remember the time I did succeed and that was hilarious.

I know how shitty it is for gimmicks to fail constantly because some jerk is just really unfun. That being said, when they do work, it feels pretty awesome. Still, I wish people would play around with more gimmicks and appreciate how fun they can be, even if it gets them killed.

The irony is that like 8 times out of 10 it's not even sec that's ruining everything. Usually it's a gung ho station head or some uppity civilian who wants traitor gear.

Even if there isn't any, or none they can use.

All a matter of perspective I've learned.
I never go alone against a ling, if I do, I use fire. If I'm in a team of two, I try capture the ling alive. Put it in containment. Perhaps it will play along to be domesticated or something. Make a petting zoo. Call other changlings to fight it, winner can be freed. w/e. Lots of things you can do with a thing that's alien.
If it's in full horrorform, then make it rain, no mercy.

Vampire is iffy. When vamps are about, I generally try find it's killcount, and if it's high, then it's gotta die. Get a crew of people, get thermals produced, wear earmuffs and go to town. Fuck vamps, they get too strong too fast imo.

Wizards, all depends on their spell. Fireball, skeletons, shocking grasp or if they're the gun-toting type (Your meant to be a technophobe you dork), sends off alarm bells that the wizard could potentially looking to "Kill everyone on station snore-bore", then I'm not going to give it any lee-way.
Passive wizards (or passive vamps for that matter) I'll always give space, being passive-aggressive myself, stating nanotrasen law mumbojumbo. And i'll be aggressive, but not overly pushy about arresting wizards with silly golems, or cluwning wizards (to a degree)

Sadly vigilantees are NEVER creative when they do this kinda stuff....if you Really need to be a vigillante to fufill your need to be an asshole in a 2d spaceman sim game, then do it the way SAW would.....Help them correct the way they are living their life with a small game.....a game of luck, death and betryal (May need two or more traitors) and when they die take a small item off of them that will piss them off, leave a trail of clues and then arrange for them to be cloned.....That or everything i just said is an horrible idea and should never be done but you should get creative!

We very clearly agreed never to be creative again.

FYI the don't hug me I'm scared series of videos (there's like two so far) is scary as heck as far as things that look like little kids could watch them.

Also if you wanted to be a psychotic jerk, give them the option of quizicution.

A saw like quiz that consists of answering questions in front of an audience while handcuffed to a chair, if they answer wrong they get a injection of discount dans soups.

If they can answer correctly enough times without dying you let them free.

This is why I always wait at least twenty minutes before kicking off any traitory shenanigans, I like to not get instagibbed and give the crew time to prep or mess around with their jobs.
