Pod speaker technology has always been a little funky. I think things that normally are unable to speak like meatcubes are able to speak with a pod.
It also uses the name of whoever's ID you're wearing as the name when you speak. I once convinced a changeling I was also a ling because I took his old ID and spoke through a pod.
