IMO blobs are fine as they are. I've seen my fair share of blob victories, so I'm not exactly inclined to call them underpowered.
If you're talking about the situation I'm thinking of, it was actually an artifact beaker filled with ~3000 units of sulfuric acid and radium. I did feel sort of bad after pouring the entire thing on your only nucleus. I'm pretty sure artifact melee weapons do jack shit to blobs.
