TLDR; rename and nerf saxitoxin, then make a new version that has slightly more realistic effects and will be a pain in the ass for chemists to synthesize? That's all I can gather from this at least.
I didn't actually know saxitoxin was a real neurotoxin, I guess I'm dumb. But from the looks of it it's way less powerful than the saxitoxin ingame, it doesn't seem to penetrate skin and the closest comparison would be like tetrodotoxin unless the source on wikipedia I skimmed thru is lying. Just a generic neurotoxin that shuts your organs down and kills you.
I like how the current "saxitoxin" ingame works, what drive did the devs have to shift it over from being sarin, to an organically derived neurotoxin? Was it just too risky to have a dumbed-down representation of an incredibly lethal chemical that is a war crime in their game? If that's the case, then that's a shame, because really deadly poisons in video games are cool.
