Giving security officers equipment that other departments have would only encourage security staff to lessen interaction between them and said departments.

If security really, really want a medic or breach specialist they can always ask a member of medbay or engineering to tag along them if it’s really dire or in less severe cases be mindful of security's needs and pay more attention to them.

I am always against ideas to lower or discourage interaction between different departments.

My thoughts exactly. Security culture is far too insular already, it should not be given more reasons to avoid other departments.
