I have no pockets but i must SecOff - Violetsaber - 06-23-2025 "Hey there rookie! Welcome to the team, glad to have you. Here, take these five dozen items and put them on your person. Now go out there and protect the station! Do pray you don't have to pick up too much contraband though. Huh? Personal items? Nice joke kiddo, go get them." Inventory management as security is an absolute nightmare. I like to say sec is 90% social and 10% action, but i'm a liar. It is 10% social and no action because you spend the other 90% juggling items. If you have enough slots, the next task is finding the right item in what pouch, belt or box at the right time. No, it is not an impossible task or an actual huge issue, but it is still something that bites my ankle every round. Plenty of times i wish for just a few more spaces for extra cuffs. I recall the one PR that lets you buy more pouches and even add one to your vest. But more pouches may not solve the issue as more lanes don't fix traffic. What are some other people's thoughts and experiences? Ideas to mitigate this? Edit: this was more meant as a casual "this is kinda silly lets chat about it" rather than "omg i'm in desperate need of help". I've been secoffing for a hot second now RE: I have no pockets but i must SecOff - Vulwin_Gilran - 06-23-2025 My tip for anyone having a hard time with it is to have consistent organization, and organize in a way that minimizes storage swapping mid fight. Personally i always have: belt: [obvious tools like tazer+baton+barrier] spare power cell sec whistle 2x cuffs pouch: 2x robust donuts flash empty space filled with morphine injectors right pocket: sec alert button backpack: internals box morphine box badge any random shit i pickup I get your point about wishing you had more cuffs, I sometimes wish the same, but imo its just how that be. I personally don't think anything needs to change. I like that you cant carry that much stuff with all your gear especially cuffs, so that officers also need to rely a bit more on eachother for big arrests. RE: I have no pockets but i must SecOff - Emimiyu - 06-23-2025 You can shove a lot of things into flashbang grenade box, robust donut lunchbox, and if you have space, morphine box. RE: I have no pockets but i must SecOff - CalliopeSoups - 06-23-2025 How I usually organize my inventory as security: Belt: - Baton - Taser (+ HoS gun) - Recharge cell - One flash - Barrier - One set of handcuffs Pouch - Alert button - Whistle - Extra flashes - Extra handcuffs - If no space in belt, night vision goggles/thermals Right pocket - Oxy tank Backpack - Gas mask - o2 box filled with extra flashes, handcuffs and oxygen - Second box with basic tools + insuls - Donut box (pouch donut goes here) Sometimes I go double drip HoS (cape + jacket) so I need to make do with just a belt and pockets, in that case I go without tools and donuts. I also put an emergency gas mask in the pouch. RE: I have no pockets but i must SecOff - Violetsaber - 06-23-2025 I'm realizing i'm missing a chance to show my loadout, so i might as well do it too. Belt: -Baton (recharge cell) -Taser -barrier -forensic scanner -flask (important) -cigars (more importanter) -zippo (most importantest) (#fuckbleeding) Pouch: -cuff -cuff -flash -whistle -plastic cuff for assorted hooligans or monkeys -cell Right pocket: -helmet (i like to have a light on me but still wear a beret) Backpack: -o2 box (random small items will be put here as the shift goes on -Donut box (pouch donut also goes here + other snacks and alcoholic drinks) -badge Frankly i haven't even factored in the blight of HOS fashion and a lack of a backpack, something i'm both glad and jealous i don't deal with. RE: I have no pockets but i must SecOff - Silent Majority - 06-23-2025 Belt -taser -baton -power cell -crowbar -knife -towel -barrier Pouch -x2 flash -x2 cuff -whistle -flashlight Bag -armor vest/badge -robust donut box --2x red --2x blue --mug --2x regular donut O2 box -Mask -2x air -(Space suit?) -security tape -wedding ring -zippo -helmet Sec hud RE: I have no pockets but i must SecOff - Cheese - 06-23-2025 Pouch for low tier crime and investigation. Zip-ties, tape, couple of flashes. Scanner, maybe a flashbang for a getaway. Belt for the serious business. Batonga and friends, real cuffs, whatever loadout accoutrements I've picked. Usually another flashbang, a smoke and a cell. Bag for whatever did not fit. Brew of choice, bean or wheat, and a donut are essential. Fill empty spaces with flashes and/or cuffs of appropriate tier. Imo, it's just important to regularly make pit stops at HQ. Caught without resources in the field? Retreat, restock, regroup. Don't stress about it. RE: I have no pockets but i must SecOff - Nerkson - 06-23-2025 I used to not use a belt as HoS, but I felt a bit constrained (and that ne'er do wells can just silently mechscan items that are on the belt) so now I use a belt. Belt - Lawbringer Baton 2x Robust Donuts the Coffee Creamer barrier Sec Pouch - Backup Donut Cuffs Oxygen Tank (I think it fits here? If not then I swap the creamer and the oxygen tank) Pocket 2- Dog Biscuit No backpack, Cape in its slot. As items get used or rounds evolve, I'll chuck an item out for a bottle of salicylic pills, a shot of morphine, a riot control grenade, etc. RE: I have no pockets but i must SecOff - Lord_earthfire - 06-23-2025 (06-23-2025, 02:00 AM)Violetsaber Wrote: What are some other people's thoughts and experiences? Inventory management is key to being robust and sonething secoffs and sntsgs both hsbe to juggle around when they try to be as effective as possible. RE: I have no pockets but i must SecOff - Kotlol - 06-24-2025 There is a VERY GOOD REASON why security officers need a lot of stuff to be effective but also WHY they have such limited inventory. The answer: "So you can have every person fill a niche within security" We used to have medkits in security... but every officer took donuts and a medkit to be the most robust possible. So medkit was removed and donuts got a nerf. In my opinion.. it's just more fun if security would have a more class system on the belt token (as I call it) Like you know how you have BATON ONLY as a challange thing? Why not make that to give some old items back. So baton only with a medkit so you can be the "medic" guard. Anyway.. as a security officer, I never have that much inventory problems.... the one who has it harder is... Detective. Gun, Ammo, Gadgets, Evidence and so much more. I think this could be a great idea that deserves their own post, more classes for sec as a combat medic with maybe a syringe gun and other first-responder healing things, or bomb specialist with tools to detain in the case of a breach like an extended o2 and even do some first basic repairs to help engineering with some basic metal sheets. Those are things we actively do anyway but this would make it more official and would help with the inventory thing since we won't have to carry as much if we each especialice into a niche. This should be it's own threat because this seems like something that'll spawn a lenghty discussion. A discussion i want to respond to with a "hell no". RE: I have no pockets but i must SecOff - The Panna - 06-24-2025 Giving security officers equipment that other departments have would only encourage security staff to lessen interaction between them and said departments. If security really, really want a medic or breach specialist they can always ask a member of medbay or engineering to tag along them if it’s really dire or in less severe cases be mindful of security's needs and pay more attention to them. I am always against ideas to lower or discourage interaction between different departments. My thoughts exactly. Security culture is far too insular already, it should not be given more reasons to avoid other departments. RE: I have no pockets but i must SecOff - Kotlol - 06-24-2025 I only brought it up due to being a "Riot officer" sometimes who takes the riot launcher and use the paint rounds, flashbangs and smoke grenades. The only reason I recommend the "medic" idea since.. it's easy to explain. But... if we want sub classes without stepping on other departments. You either need to give them gear that is WAY LESS then the actual gear. Like less versions of it. (like if a medic was there i'd only have small bandages and like 2 pills, so more a 1st responder but lets drop this) OR... we just divide security officers to get gear on more specialisation skills security needs. The detective is a great forensics user, but they can be an antag. But any other officer can mix and match whatever and still have something big. I would love to trade in my tazer for more non lethal ammo for a riot launcher as example. Then we just give gears on those levels since I'll be honest.. Chosing between tazer, wavegun, tazershotty and tazer smg... always felt like a dud choice. Only the Wavegun works completely different, but all other are just "Tazers" |
