I read this as "Certain clothing (Fire Fighter Suits, Space Suits, etc) have enough fire resistance where they either get damaged very slowly or not at all where the risk of it burning away is negligible or non-existent

Your gimmick getting ruined by some jerk is a part of the game. It's supposed to get you riled up and thinking of ways to get even with said jerk, because that creates conflict and a narrative builds through dramatic tension. You walk away from the game with a memorable experience.
But, I also think avoiding these frustrations through planning and cooperation is also part of the experience. A chem that makes your clothing burn proof would be an example of something like that.
