It's not -quite- the same thing, but this thread shows perhaps there's some basic impetus (as well as potential issues) around the same concept: Improvised defensive items rather than offensive. 

I'm clearly a fan with the basic concept and you've thought through some of the things to help balance it. I still think it's a good idea here as I did for the similar concept before, and my thoughts remain pretty much the same.
