Since you people are terrible and don't read anything I need to point out that there are alternatives suggested in this thread, for instance a sting (you realize stings are instantaneous and stealthy right?) that causes the target to be muted and slow.
Acid spits primary purpose is to stop your target squealing while you hose their innards through a tube, muting your target and slowing them down would just add an extra few steps where you have to subdue them, easily done since they now cannot scream for help or run away when you follow the muting sting with some neurotoxin.
The purpose of this suggestion is to add a tiny chance of victory against an otherwise impossible to defeat instant death attack, and I know you will point to 'ALWAYS STAY WITH A PARTNUR HURP DURP' like that actually works when you just spawned and your geneticist buddies first action is to spit acid and suck you dry in the maintenance corridor before you've even finished rendering your clothes, or when you're working in an office when along comes captain access changeling and acid spits you before you can press a key because of spacelag.
No other antagonist has this power and is allowed to look like a regular person, A wizard can shoot a fireball that homes in and blows you right up, but when you see a wizard YOU KNOW HES A WIZARD, A nuke operative can shoot you, but if someone's spotted a red suit than you know that's a possibility and have prepared, a traitor can shoot you AND be stealthy, but it costs him other abilities, a changeling has no downside, that instant knockout I win button comes with no detriments or disadvantages.
Also to all the terrible people claiming you can ~outrun the shot~, try living in another country on top of the space lag and BYONDs natural shittiness and the homing projectile.
