I agree that it's kind of dumb and unintuitive how resistant it is, when big bulky submarine tanks and spaceproof combat based pods can take less of a beating. It'd be cool if you still got hit by shots and chemical smokes when in the forklift, because logically, since the bit you sit in is open, you wouldn't be fully immune to those like you are now. Another way they could be fixed is they could have a health var that's similar to minisubs, where you just gotta smack it or shoot it a bit to either blow it up or make it break down and require fixing. 

It's not a huge deal since it's not really abused that much, but it is pretty goofy and fixing it would be Good.
