ok don't nerf kudzu but change it a bit

I agree with the thing about it being blocked by welded or bolted doors, but the issue here is that the AI can stop the kudzu from spreading entirely once it finds it with very little effort.

Maybe just through welded doors then, since bolting a door just seems to lock it, whereas welding it shut fills in all the many gaps in the airlock.

On the flipside, maybe the AI should be allowed to do something about it, since right now without a borg, all the AI can do is yell for random people to do something about it, which has roughly the same success rate as yelling out the window for random passers-by to mow your lawn.

Eh kudzu is easy to contain. I've stopped an outbreak that covered the chapel/owlery and maintenance areas by myself with just a pair of wirecutters to stop thin vines spreading, then a flamethrower to clear out the rest. Lit candles, lighters and welding tools are enough to stop it spreading completely when placed in choke points (you can also do this to blobs to annoy them).

Which mainly comes from how tedious it is to hit the each of the vine sprites as it changes from the dense kudzu to the thin stuff.

maybe the biggest issue with kudzu is it just isn't that fun

as for "interaction with atrazine" ppl propose - it is currently possible to lay down candles/lit welders/etc to "wall off" kudzu growth from a tile, perhaps dosing floor tiles with weedkiller will be the less-flammable way of doing this

I think there needs to be some method, no matter how slow, of getting through kudzu without tools.

I still recall with horror the day I was locked into a tiny 1x2 box of dense kudzu and a wall, naked, by a mindslaved Sundance. Then it turned into a sea of elmo. I prayed for salvation, but all I got was more horror.

Kudzu can be used for horrific things if you're creative enough.

I'm surprised that kudzu doesn't mummify people who stand near it for too long.

I felt super bad in a round the other day where i got Kudzu and a powersink. I put both down in delivery. After it had grown a bit I also walled off the power sink with the RCD. People were very unhappy. I managed to cover more or less the entire middle part of the station (Podbay to bridge) with Kudzu.

For the record, it does not grow on unsimulated tiles including airbridges and shuttle tiles..

That was some good planning, however accidently killing yourself on my upload turrets wasn't as good haha. Yeah the kudzu didn't actually spread that much, I think. It got stuck behind walls and doors for ages, but no one was really fighting it. idk kudzu is mixed, nerf or not, who knows

i notice sometimes ppl get stuck in places by kudzu when they could get out if they just knew a certain fact. you can use shards from broken window for example to cut yourself a path. spread this knowledge

what if instead of kudzu completely blocking stuff it just slowed you down progressively as it got thicker? that would take care of like 90% of my issues with it and also have the whole "hull breach because the kudzu found an airlock" actually make sense

edit: also would allow for sneaky traitors to hide in the kudzu and ambush people trying to get rid of it which would be rad as hell. Combine this with maneaters and you've got FUN

given how much ppl hate slowdown it doesnt sound like a big nerf. worth experimenting with i suppose

you can literally hit kudzu with anything to break it, just sharp objects work better.
