More variety in crates
#31
I support the idea of more diverse loot.
Rock it launchers would be sweet
As would DNA injectors
NPC staff assistants sound great, both of friendly and hostile variants. Experiences like the one Frank describes above are comedy gold.
Most of the other suggested loot is good- except the BFG and insta-kill mobs.

More faustian loot seems good too, like trick revolvers and fake (murderous) captain ID cards. There should be risk involved beyond just the risk in hacking the crate. Bonus points to any nerd with enough space-lore to recognize such items as dangerous, with the bonus doubling if you can get some chump to fuck up with said item.

I also support the idea of the crates getting a few more anti-theft systems added, such as one injecting you with nasty chems. Not pathogens though, that sounds like it would be used to grief the station. But 50u of ketamine and 50u of neurotox sounds like a fun anti-theft system (fun in the sense that its punishing for failure, but not exploit-ably so.) ((suddenly I think of nanites as probably the most amusing chem for injection, a moment before posting))

That actually sounds worse than the crate just exploding in your face.

Dear god, how long would that even put you out for

What about some nasty radiation chem instead, anything that can't just be healed with a couple patches

Well, it has the same amount of neurotoxin as a changeling sting and the same amount of ketamine as a single sleepy pen dose.

So, basically, however long the longest of those two lasts.

You know, maybe we could put some high-end power cells in some crates, like a high-security crate could have one of those 400 capacity, 40 charge rate super-cells that laser rifles have.

Mimic crates. When you open them, they reveal teeth and attack you. They have more health than toolbox mimics and deal more damages (bigger and more teeth).

a mimic crate wouldnt pose as a code-locked crate, it would be at risk of starvation. it could be a grey crate though

Easy it'd just look like a locked crate until you interacted with it

Make the mimic crates move a little slower, though. Wouldn't want TOO much blood spilled because the miner who found it hadn't upgraded to industrial armor yet.

Or maybe we do. I don't know. Be however evil you want.
