Obviously things like being blind or deaf are out of the question but i doubt nanotrasen paid top dollar for these clones, there's gonna be some mutations

Why not make it a trait?

Actually that's perfect, just have it be a genetic trait thing that you can't lose, and also can't take robust genetics to compensate

you could even split this into three traits, a costly one with a "good" or at least non-harmful power, a less expensive one that gives you whatever, and one that gives you back a point that gives you a bad mutation

Features are fun, but being punished for literally no reason is dumb.

Trait, you're choosing to make your life terrible, and is therefore not a bad idea a potential feature.

Wasn't this an early trait? It was taken out because the station turned into X-men Station 13 where everyone who got crappy powers would suicide at roundstart while the rest would run around shooting psychic hulks with their laser eyes.

Maybe make it only negative or neutral genes then?

Maybe have it be 1 weak good trait and 1 weak bad trait

For a dumb thought what if the good power trait was tied to an achievement.

EX-Maeen: Have 3 units of every radioactive chemical in your system. (The lame joke being that you're an "ex-man", because in all likelyhood you might be dead or severely mutated.)
