Basically, you click once to do one thing, and click and hold to do another.
For melee, this could be a special attack that does something good like more damage or stagger the opponent, but at a cost such as taking more stamina or slowing you down while holding the attack. Perhaps for certain items like tools, the single click is a safe intended use while the held in click uses it as a weapon to make them more unwieldy compared to natural weapons
For ranged weapons, it could be a different kind of weapon functionality, like a beam for lasers or a charged shot for tasers.
Though, what made me think about this was the one gun from Out of this World/Another World that deployed a shield, which would be a NEAT addition to Sec's arsenal
