Re: Explosion power is bugged (?) - APARTHEID - 07-04-2014

Exploding shotgun shells are only strong enough to blast the plating off of a wall. Even the floor beside it was unscorched! Cripes

It appears that Chlorine Azide is also hilariously weak. I must of detonated it on myself 7 or 8 times and it only knocked me down to 20-30% health.

Of note: syndie pipebombs, while still significant, are quite a bit smaller.

Newt King Wrote:If you light one while it's in a person's mouth, does it still seriously wound/kill them? I like using trick cigs because they are cheap and stylish, but I have noticed that their explosions are fairly wimpy.

I can confirm trick cigs will gib bodies if dropped ontop of them. Aside from that I tricked someone into smoking it. They were knocked down, but not wounded all that much.

I can also confirm they hardly do much property damage which is a crying shame. They can't be used to destroy APC's.

Hacked mining charges are pitifully weak

Re: Explosion power is bugged (?) - Toybasher - 07-06-2014

I can confirm trick cigs hardly do any damage. They can remove limbs I think if smoked and knock people down. I can also confirm that dropping them on a body will gib it, but the cigs on bare floors hardly damage anything.

Also, a 4 microbomb explosion didn't kill a sec officer with regular armor on right next to me, athough they lost a leg and were critted.

Next time I'm traitor I'll see how powerful a ten microbomb detonation is. From what I've heard it used to make a 21x21 explosion that gibbed everything on the screen. Curious how potent it is now. Surely if you're going to sacrifice all your telecrystals you should at least be awarded with a glorious detonation that pays off.

mozi Wrote:Exploding abandoned crates do 0 damage now.

I vastly prefer that to that time where they blew off my limbs from a screen away and behind 2 airlocks, shuttle walls, and a magic force field.

hello i am here to confirm that injecting someone with black powder and lighting them on fire does like, jack shit.
15-20ish brute with 30 units of black powder in them last i tested. jack. shit.

Mining charges are ACTUALLY the only thing which is agreeable right now. They are basically concussive explosives - they do a great deal of damage to asteroids but little to no damage to people; BUT they have a respectable knockdown range and a fairly long stun.

Re: Explosion power is bugged (?) - Hull - 07-07-2014

Did some fiddling with explosion code just now. My hope is that explosions will be somewhere between where they are now, and when they were kind of ridiculous. Let me know what you observe when it goes live.

Re: Explosion power is bugged (?) - Noah Buttes - 07-07-2014

PDA bombs are perfect now. They actually do some hull damage and delimb people without necessarily exposing you to space. Perfect for trapping the cap in his office!

Re: Explosion power is bugged (?) - SgtBriar - 07-07-2014

Black powder has gone from pretty piss weak to....well, I wish I had taken a screenshot but 30u of black powder in foam detonated in the test chamber had sufficient power to turn walls as far as the artlab into girders and destroy the valuchimp in the artlab. To the guys that wanted crazy explosions, you got em, and I ain't complaining.

I'm talking about HACKED charges, the ones that explode when put onto station tiles. It's probably fixed now anyway, but ehh.

Re: Explosion power is bugged (?) - Zamujasa - 07-08-2014

An abandoned crate two tiles away blew off all light cyborg limbs and blew the plating off the r-walls it was next to. Ouch.

Re: Explosion power is bugged (?) - pizzatiger - 07-08-2014

Mining charges are still Under-powered....A mining charge has a hard time breaking an R-walls and still only take about 20 health from a person who are directly on the explosion
