Make deafness a temporary reduction in volume after really loud sounds, such as superfarts.

Ear ringing from gun battles would be cool if there were a soda-machine cure for it.

I had a black powder .32 blank fired next to me indoors and it was way past the pain threshold. I think a suppressed .22 would still hurt quite a bit.

This is one of those realism vs. fun things. Traitors and Syndicate could do their thing, yeah, but they'll be royally fucked in the ears by round end, requiring those headsets from medbay. With little to no good reasons why you're deaf, you'll be outed very promptly.

True, chike. That's why I reccomend this:

1. Detectives are not affected by gun noise
2. Syndi helmets/syndi radio headsets prevent all effects
3. Shotgun and revolver come with a special general headset that prevents harmful effects yet still works on the general radio channel
4. Detectives revolver doesn't cause hearing damage

How it works: Ringing for 10-15 seconds if you have no ear protection and possibly VERY short term deafness, like 5-10 seconds. Extended gunfire with no protection results in temporary deafness of a minute or two. Continuing after that, permanent deafness.
