Why not do what someone brought up in the original suggestion, and make the current shitty fruitcake available year-round, but add a second recipe available during spacemas that actually requires love and care that makes a non-shitty fruitcake.

Because then it'll be garbage that nobody even knows about/always forgets about. The only real use for it is to kill someone by force feeding them it and even then that'll only happen very rarely. Why limit the use of it even more?
