A question for the coders
#1
A lot of ideas get sleeted through the forums almost all the time. Not many of them get implemented for whatever reason or another. My question is this:

Are there any ideas you've stumbled across in the forums that you've liked, but due to not having either the time or the will have been unable to implement?

And i suppose i should ask another, related question:

If somebody else on the forums were to code these features, would you implement them?

seeing as I'm not coder I guess I should just say I used to offer coding help to people in #imcoder but it's been very quiet, if anyone would like help with their patches hit me up on the IRC, Discord (i asked for the #imcoder channel on Discord for a reason!!) or send me a PM, god I would love to help out because apparently my ability to focus on things by my own is for shit

To answer your second question: Yes, and there is even specific subforum dedicacted to the adding to the code base.
https://forum.ss13.co/forumdisplay.php?fid=30
There are also topics to help you get started, and links to the irc-chat, where you can almost always find somebody to help you along.

You've misunderstood the purpose of this thread

The idea is to try and get a feeling from our codermins on things that are actually likely to be added, since not everything in the patches subforum gets implemented and nobody wants to start a medium-big project without some kind of assurance that something will be made from it

Ah, that'll teach me to read on the run.

And with it pointed out, I notice it too.
I submitted 2 patched, a quick'n'shitty one that was implemented almost overnight, and a decent one well before that but is still in pending.
My hunch is that the decent one is causing a merge conflict, which causes the code-managers to put off looking at it.

So, you know, avoid doing that. Which is becoming increasingly impossible as the in-play code drifts further away fro the public code with every patch...

I'm not sure what could be done about that, short of trawling the implemented patches forum and doing every possible combination of merges with branch that touch the same files.
