They're too weak to actually be useful for much.
Additionally, now that industrial space armor is actually difficult to get again, hacked mining charges shouldn't be too troublesome once buffed back to ye olden strength.

Hacked mining charges can be planted on walls, right? I would suggest making them a more explosive alternative to Thermite breaching explosives.
More explosion, less fire. The explosion would probably be equal to a smaller black powder explosion, enough to break through a wall while not enough to instagib anyone standing 2-3 tiles away.
