The mail and disposal chutes do not broadcast when you place an item into them, such as a firearm, and they broadcast BOTH messages of this only to the person doing it.
You place .38 revolver into the mail chute (crewA).
Oar Dehrv places .38 revolver into the mail chute (crewA).
Both of these showed for me, neither of them showed for another player. This could be exploited by people placing bombs all over the station with ease where people are standing around without anyone noticing, or for people wanting to get rid of evidence in plain sight and so on. I have done tests and the broadcast does not work for any item placed in a chute.
I don't know, maybe it's not a bug, but the two broadcast messages it gives me suggest people should be able to see it and they don't.
