Cuffs & Artistic Toolbox

If you get cuffed while holding the artistic toolbox, (possible if you get cornered by the buddies and stuff), it seems impossible to take them off-- the "you must wait 45" seconds message comes up but nothing ever seems to happen. I assume that because the chaplain still holds the box while they're cuffed messes things up a bit?
