So in that case, we need a pop-rocks snack that you can also get from the vending machine.

I wouldn't put it in the vending machine: that means there's a ready-to-go grenade kit in every single vending machine.

Put a limited number of pop-rocks snacks in some remote or restricted areas of the station, like in the research lounge or behind the HoS desk or something, and possibly miners can dig up more candy in their boxes of booze or some such.

The idea of Pop Rocks being a real rock that miners can find just so that they can make ridiculous bombs with it sounds absolutely hilarious.

Oh dear god you've hit idea paydirt.

Get the mining idea thread back up, we need to imagine a candy meteor.

Allright, here's my suggestion based on what we've come together with in this thread.

Soda and SS13-Imitaion Mentos candy are available in vending machines around the station. Shaking or throwing a soda will cause it to foam in the tile where it's opened, spraying its contents all over the person shaking the can and making that tile wet. Opening a can of soda and putting Mentos in the can will cause it to foam in a bigger space, maybe 3x3, wet the floor, everyone in the area, and attract ants.

To make a Soda Can grenade, you need to go a little bit out of your way: either retrieve or make Space Rox Poppin' Candy.

One package of ready-made Space Rox is in the research lounge, and the other is in the fridge in the kitchen. To make Space Rox from scratch, you need Raw Space Rox, which can be gotten in small amounts from rare candy asteroids or some other way (candy asteroids could have chocolate and mentos or whatever else, too). Maybe model the candy asteroid after a jawbreaker? Throwing ideas at the wall.

Take a beaker, scoop in Raw Space Rox, add one part tonic water and one part milk and then heating it. This will form Space Rox Poppin' Candy!

Dumping Space Rox into an open soda can will automatically prime the grenade, which will go off on its own in a shrapnel-filled sugary slippery explosion in around 70 seconds. You can shake the can to subtract 20 seconds from the timer, which means you need to mix the candy and then judge about how long you need to wait to shake the can and throw it.

How about just the rocks that you get from mining asteroids.

It should take at least a little time to put together if it's going to be a weapon worth using. Take a look at chemical grenades or flamethrowers or the like: you have to take a few steps to put them together in order for them to work.

No no, I mean just for the rock part, rather than having to make a whole bunch of new sprites for mining. Plus having candy in asteroids just sounds too silly even for goon.

Look, we can build walls out of Pizza, explosive chairs, an electric chair that vapourises people and we use an engine thats capable of reaching temperatures several million times hotter than the surface of the sun to power our stations. Asteroid candy is comparatively tame

On a related note, a stick of rock anyone?

Actually I find it very funny to think that a candy is literally made of carbonated rocks.

Maybe it's like a variant of a rock, sugary rock?
