What if Space Station 13 were on the Wolfenstein 3D engine?

Namely, something modern like ECWolf, with floor/ceiling textures and lighting. Reason I mention the Wolf engine is because it's basically tile based.

I wonder what such a version would be like to play.

I figure any SS13-D project would be voxel based. It would probably then be labeled a minecraft ripoff.

I feel like SS13 has such weird requirements (atmosphere, deconstructable walls/floors/etc, full blown computing systems) that trying to force it into any existing engine means serious changes to the codebase.

It's like dayz only worse, and arma already had a lot of processing behind it.

I do think if someone wanted to stick to the spirit of ss13, the easiest way to do it would be to stick to the mafia gameplay but move the setting somewhere else. Like a submarine, or the Jamestown colony or something.

I'm still hopeful for ss14 though, because silvertorch5's work is pretty dope.

I think, if the setting were to change, some kind of military research base ala Half-Life/Portal would be the most similar setting, letting you keep pretty much all the jobs. Or something like a James Bond/Avengers spy base setting.

not exactly that impossible, it's just that whoever tried to worked on it always ended up getting sidetracked on useless features or just didnt bother working on it enough

prime example : centration, they were going on a good path (experimenting on core gameplay features early on to find out what engine suited them best, which was UE3/4 for reference) Sadly, people stopped giving a fuck and it plumetted to the ground. Also, aza was running it and he's a pretty strange fellow to say the least.

Sorry sorry. That was the first thing that came up when I googled it. Right now the only concrete thing I can dig up is on 4chan's /vg/ SS13 thread because they don't actually have a website or anything.

Honestly in my opinion the best remake currently is the 8chan remake: http://8ch.net/ss13/res/860.html

They have atmos. Last project update was 2 days ago and the last release was at the end of november.
