Slow down the crusher cargo belt down
#1
So the new belt speed is kinda crazy, so crazy that if the crusher doors are open (which they are almost 90% of the time)

You are completely unable, unless you spruce yourself up with a number of drugs to get up and run before your body flies into the crusher.

I get that they probably need to be faster for cargo delivery and things like that, but could the crusher's conveyor belt be slowed back to the old speed?

I can pull off the most amazing escape dodging bullets punches swings on fire and near death, hop into the disposal (Which has always been a very viable escape choice) only to be crushed almost instantly when arriving on the other side.

maybe a solution is to have two different types of belt, one for disposals and one for Cargo, which run at different speeds?

This makes sense. Also why is there no emergency exit?

raises the question of why there is no Emergency Shutdown button outside the gibber, too. Space OSHA would have a heart attack!

I actually like the current set up, where the disposal chute escape is now a means of last resort instead of a shortcut if you don't feel like walking

This.

I just played three rounds to test this (I meant to hop on for 5 minutes as a staff engineer; I hate this game) and found that:
1) Damn it's zippy
and
2)It was closed every time I used it

In fact, every time I've used disposals on cog2 (dire situations only, like stung or trapped in a fire) it has been closed. I may just be lucky, but I'm okay with a 50/50 chance of escaping from a fire into the frying pan.

You're very lucky.

It's been open every time I've used it hoping for an escape from Fire/Murderer/OtherHorribleThings.

People did horrible things to the disposals in Cog1 enough to make it viable to go back to the old speed.
Atleast no one could just press 1 button to meant instant death for anything trying to get away from a potentially deadly situation.
It's not like Cog2 has many players to play around with a few dying.

You are literally jumping into a trash chute and falling into a grimy conveyor system meant for smashing trash into tiny bits. You are not allowed to complain about it being lethal. That is kind of its whole purpose! Myself? I kind of like the change. Now you have to walk everywhere, and getting trapped is more of a real threat you have to think about.

make it so the crusher doors close when a living human comes by them, but can be monkeyed with to disable it R-r-r-ribbit?

You're allowed to complain when it means somebody stuffing you in a trash chute and flushing it has pretty much signed your death certificate.

You know, that thing that happens really frequently? That thing a lot of people even use as their "non-lethal" way of removing annoying people from their areas, like Chemistry or Robotics?

I agree that jumping through disposals should be a risky move, but not certain death either.

I think maybe the grinder should be replaced with something less immediate in it's destruction, like a slow moving compactor.

YES THIS.
hooked up to a computer with custom crushing variables for making different kinds of cubes.
essentially the equivalent to loafing but for materials.
put a fresh staff assistant in there and it'll come out with a cube made of bone, flesh, skin, fabric, circuitry(PDA), leather, steel (oxy tank), money and cardboard materials.

I really like this trash compactor idea, I can already see people selling assistant cubes.
