Lazy man's sabotage.

Pouring coffee/water/etc on computers of all kinds should render them broken.

Repair consists of removing the parts and replacing them with working parts.

Walk into security and accidentally spill your coffee on the sec computer.

Upload a freeform law to the AI. Spill coffee on the computer.

Oops. The AI is a duck forever*.

it probably should just fry the screen if it does anything. simple to repair just using two sheets of glass and a screwdriver but still useful to delay.

This would get really annoying, really fast.

thats kind of the point. it is another way for antags to be dicks. or for staff assistants to get spaced.

I'm kind of of the oppinion that if someone starts splashing coffee everywhere as a nonantag and is generally a rudelord, a beating or admin involvement could easily take care of it.

I think for the first couple weeks every computer would break, and then it would get boring and no one would do it.

Same with nerds stapling eachother.

After that point it would be pretty easy to figure out it's just gang members threatening coffee spills for money or a griefing traitor.

I still like the idea of quiet sabotage though. Especially since there are already ways to draw the crews ire that don't involve murder and more subtle antagory is always fun.

Yeah I like this. It's on the same low impact level as when people fuck with doors and gives sec someone else to pummel into the ground.

I always pictured the computers as self contianed touch screen interfaces, like large tablets but sturdier. I suppose you could ruin the ports where ID's are inserted, but I see this resulting in more annoyance than fun. Perhaps a little effort to get liquid inside, with a duration of malfunctioning.

Neat idea, but I don't want the AI Upload and Comms Console to be disabled every round. Even if it's easy to fix, we already have rounds that are 70 minutes plus simply because the only people alive on the station don't know how to fix a broken monitor.

Now if you said you wanted to stick NI3 into the comms console so that when used it blows up, well I'd be behind that one. Coffee? Nah. The cost for the effect is too cheap.
