Pies aren't working

The recipe for an X cream pie on the wiki just produces a normal cream pie. Also some objects don't retain their variables when they go into the pie, like a hand labeller won't keep the label set on it, and that's just tragic.

Please read the notes. The X cream pie only accepts food items (with few exceptions, certain recipes may interfere), whereas any item can be baked into the other dynamic pie. If you try to use a stun baton or whatever, the oven will discard it and just make a regular cream pie instead.

Oh dang, serves me right for being in a hurry. Also the hand labeler thing isn't a problem with pies either, it's just that you can't label people any more.

No wait hang on, you just can't label things with a hand labeler pie even if they display a message about hitting them with the labeler, such as walls and cyborgs.
