Holotools

Here is an idea: Tools in the surgery room get changed into a simple little black tube, that when turned on (like you would turn on a csaber) lets you choose out of all the surgery tools. Its 2600 and people are still using scalpels and hemostats?
When emagged,it turns into a little knife csaber

Because Nano Trasen is too cheap to buy good tools

What about the *puke suggestion?

Speaking as a real medic, you don't want people to puke when poisons have been ingested. Please don't reply that charcoal makes you puke to have it work, it doesn't actually do that.

It's 2054.

Speaking as someone who has been in highschool, you cant materialize infinite ammounts of materials in a chem dispenser

Or make liquid dark matter by mixing basic chemicals either

From a gameplay point of view, being able to just puke to heal tox ruins poisoning as a viable means of taking someone out. You might as well ask to remove tox damage all together.

Have a 25-50% chance to puke your heart out

Well, from my EMT training, charcoal just kind of clumps in your stomach and prevents further poisons from entering your bloodstream. Charcoal kind of exists as a magical anti-toxin that's good against everything right now, but I kinda want it stay that way because unlike in popular media, there isn't an antitoxin to everything, and some of the stuff is either extremely specific to certain poisons and/or is a poison itself.
My pet peeve about the medical system is adrenaline is a universal cardio drug. That's wrong and stupid, and where is my adrenaline. mad

Well if you wanted to make things more complicated, Medbay could have a toxicology department (QUICK TAKE HIS BLOOD THEN THROW HIM IN THE SLEEPER SO WE CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT POISONED HIM WITHOUT HIM DYING RIGHT AWAY). But I'm assuming you don't want things to be more complicated.

As for holotools, I don't really see a point in replacing the scalpel and bone saws, unless it's like an upgrade the roboticists can make for convenience. Basically a medical swiss army knife you can throw in a pocket or medkit. I do think giving roboticists more cool gear the rest of the department can use when available would be neat. Bring back research for upgrades, it didn't take that long since you basically click a few buttons and go back to making buttbots, and roboticists could get some cool stuff out of it.
