I think it would be fun to have a little area near botany to act as a place to make things out of wood. Give botany a lumber bearing tree that gives logs when chainsawed. Take the logs to the wood shop and use machines there to convert them into planks and sheets that can be crafted into things using other machines there.

For fun, make it so that the machines all require being used with a certain intent, or else you lose your arm. Wear goggles to prevent going blind from splinters. Safety first!

I like this, especially if you could use "sheets" of wood to make wood floor panels. And I'm not entirely certain, but I think some telesci locations already have wood floor panels, so it wouldn't even need a new sprite made.

This is a great idea. This would allow the station to be more customizable and allow us to make cool things like forts.

In addition to all the great things we could build out of wood, this would also mean we have a wood saw, possibly with a combination pulper option (For furnace fuel and paper making). In other words, excellent new murder tools!

Or we could just repurpose the chainsaws for it, they can cut trees straight into logs.

Also the show went on until maybe 2008 or something? Maybe not that far but it had a movie and at least two games and everything. It lasted for maybe ten seasons.

Yeah, I'm thinking one machine could convert the prepared lumber into wooden sheets that act just the same as metal sheets. From there, you could construct most of the same items. Wooden floor tiles would be great, as well as a way to make tables like in the bar.
Wooden chairs and standard tables could be a weaker variant that eventually smashes into wooden scrap when it takes enough damage.

That's a good point, would the wood floors be flammable?
It would be neat if wood floors caught fire and started setting all the other wood floor tiles on fire, causing massive fires.

Then again, probably best to start simple on ideas like this and then evolve them over time.
