let me try to draw a picture
for the most part i play the same character, Zane Engineering
generally im a bit of a tryhard, i love the action and i love being energitic and running around chasing people/evidence
Man hunts are my favourite, especially if its detain/kill on sight, bonus points if either of us (me or antag) move in for the mid-fight farts and banter
A second favourite is hooligans, or generally charismatic and good RP villains or partcrimers, for those i tend to avoid brigging and instead dish out "punishment" in various ways including but not limited to
Shooting my gun around them (good excuse to practice wave gun)
Sentancing them to jump into the pool room (Cool flip required)
The salt and pepper accident™ (Description missing)
2 Stuns (one for setup, second for punchline)
If they're uninterested in playing along i usually just say something funny in my mind at the time, and then go back to sec to mark em off arrest
However, for proper criminals, ones without a gimmick i mean, i find that my judgement tends to be lacking here
in all my time of playing ss13 on goonstation, there's one thing that i've learned very well
in regards to the RP aspect of the game, Security stands well and firm in the center of it all
Capable of adding, ruining and enabling so much in the round, wether that is by calling the chaplain to assist with a vampire/wizard threat
Calling a detective to a crime scene, Letting someone go with weapons for them to use it to save you later... and so on
in this, i find myself to be incompetent
i got a nice grip of the basics, someone's prints looking a bit too suspicious? question em
Caught red handed? Brig, contraband or stolen goods? Search, found an illegal storage? pretend you didnt and hand it back, unless you caught them directly doing something with it
I never search the PDA, only exception where i would is if theres a PDA bomber, i havent had the chance yet but if i see their syndicate uplink in the process, i'll just say something funny about amazon and ebay then hand it back, my goal would be to confiscate the PDA bomber chip, not the PDA itself
i would say, that as a sec off, mechanically, im good
Most people i go after get caught, current exceptions are changlings (due to the recent changes requiring a completely different approach) aswell as annoying crimers, mostly because they will get killed by the angry horde of people they pissed off before i get to them
but when my judgement is tested, and as far as making the round more interesting, i find myself to be falling short
i try to pay attention to every HOS that comes by and question them to the best of my ability, they tend to be the best for learning these things, but its such a rare experience to get a close eye on a HOS unless your a ghost, half the time you have to go somewhere to do your job
as much as i would love to "review" a round, sadly there is no possibly way outside of memory and discussion, i find that the "bad" rounds are where knowledge is most bountiful, but the ingame chat is so chaotic that a one on one conversation just doesnt happen, not to mention the emotions
and in my experience as a sec off, there is nowhere to discuss this stuff and as a result, i continue to be incompetent
i try talkin to some sec mains in ghost chat when i see em, but for the most part there is no solid way to "learn" this stuff
nowadays, for the most part i play in lowpop, but sometimes ill show up in midpop and highpop
and so i come asking here for critique, if you watched me play in security, give me your criticism preferebly while clarifying the following:
are you someone that plays/played security alot? and if so, what role?
if you're going to refer to a specific round, try to mention as many key details as possibly, that way i'll have a good chance of remembering it
