Uplink Suggestion: Syndicate Operative Implant
#1
New Traitor Item Idea: Syndicate Operative Implant

Purpose/Use: When implanted, tags you as a Syndicate Operative (small S on your sprite, similar to Nukies) and allows you to see other Syndicate Operatives who have this same implant.

Cost: 1 or 2 TC

Reasoning: Traitor-Traitor collaboration is fun. Sometimes, however, attempts to collaborate fail for numerous reasons. Sometimes, when a traitor is enacting their plans, another traitor shows up to help but can be caught in the cross-fire if things are tense. The purpose of this implant would be to help traitors more easily identify one another, especially during fights.

I would honestly be chill with such an implant being say.... A C.A.R.L purchase?

the second this hits the code there will be people injecting it into random non-antag passersby for shits and giggles

which isn't necessarily a bad thing. just something to keep in mind

Even though I don't play RP that sounds hilarious for RP

That's an even better reason to add it

Mark all of security with this implant and now you know who is who with that bold S smile

(So you can more easily ignore them and crime)

I want to find other traitors in a round easier for sure, it being a CARL purchase is better than a uplink to me, and allows sleeper agents to be included as a plus on top of that.

kinda wish we just had the traitor codewords feature from other codebases though

Seems like a popular idea is adding it to CARL's inventory. I feel like I'm for the idea of it being an uplink purchase because it's quite powerful to have traitors team up. The item requiring a TC investment makes it less likely to be injected into random people (but not impossible). I'm not against the idea of it being a CARL purchase, but it does feel strong. Money can be a non-issue, so I struggle to see a balance for it in terms of cost of purchase. Maybe limiting the number of them that can be purchased would help balance it, if it was to be a CARL purchase?

I'm actually against the uplink idea because if a traitor gets caught with their uplink open and with telecrystals, security could just get free syndicate detection for some officers. It probably falls under power gaming but at the same time it's just a annoying potential to get found out that way.

Also, CARL is a non-issue to me, this wouldn't be the most broken thing they sell (pod shotgun & grenades, occasionally voice changer, syndicate armor, occasionally signal blocker).

id rather go to the listening post for this than spend my precious surplus crate TC on it, so im all for CARL selling it

Pretty sure we used to have that actually

Oh also in regards to security potentially using it to find traitors, make the implant self destruct on removal

while the idea is neat I don't like the idea of sec metagaming to steal stirstir's syndicate implant and now be able to see all syndicates

Just give stirstir a special one
