Goon servers you play: Largely the lower pop server, currently Goon 3. Will hop over to the larger pop one occasionally, currently Goon 4.

Reason for application: As a semi-dedicated Lowpop player, I feel that a lot of Security teams could do with more direction and leadership to make the round more engaging. During many rounds I try to take some initiative with my team and coordinate our cases, and I found those rounds to be quite engaging because I was more able to help the round develop, and allow the antagonists to have their fun and prepare things without quashing them immediately, while making sure escalation is followed on both sides. Our goal is to make the Security and Antagonists both have FUN.

Security experience (300 word minimum): I’ve been playing Security, on occasion, since starting the game a year ago or so. I very much enjoyed the process, even if I wasn’t very good at it yet, and so I evolved my first ever character to be mainly a detective, inspired by a close friend who told me a story about how fun it was to play detective. After creating some other characters, I had largely taken a break from playing Security, until I created Kendra a few months ago. I found her to be a very good character for Security play, and I enjoyed doing it with her a lot. I felt I could be a lot more assertive with her than my other characters, and it led to me enjoying and playing it a lot more. Playing with her, I started working, with the help of the very great Security team, to figure out what the best punishment for crimes should be in certain situations. That leads us into about today, where I’ve been practicing those skills and trying to play sec at least once every time I play, because I genuinely enjoy the process of doing so a lot. I enjoy discovering antagonists and roleplaying with them, combatting them, ESPECIALLY interrogating them. When I’m playing Security, I often tend to emphasize roleplaying with the antagonists, trying to figure out their motivations and their goals with what crimes they have committed. I had this one especially great round with Charles Fallare as both Detective and Traitor. He took a hatred against a random crewmember, and started telling us that he suspected him of various things. He ended up searching him and deciding that he was clear. I went to Medbay shortly after that, and this crewmember shot me multiple times with a derringer. After we brought him in, I interrogated him, until we decided to exile. We prepared for exiling, and the crewmember started acting much different than the suave, uncaring criminal that had just been in the interrogation chair. He started blaming Charles for it all. He was exiled, and I continued the shift, discussing this with another crewmember. After a while and some other suspicious behavior, we decided that we would just double-check the prints on the derringer he left, to prove or disprove our theory. And, it was gone. I demanded Charles come to security and be searched for it, explaining he was the only one with access who MIGHT HAVE, and he obliged. We found AP ammo in his bag, and interrogated him to find out what had happened. He spun a story about Dmitri and the Clown having worked together on something, until a mindhack was shown off, and I was informed it was inside of Dmitri. So we prepared to exile Charles, I threw back their PDA when they requested, and I was shot by a silenced pistol. I wanted to give Charles a last stand, because firstly Kendra wouldn’t know about the Uplink, and secondly, it just felt right for the story that was unfolding to give him a chance to fire back in some way.

What advice would you give to other Sec Players?

Remember that your job isn’t JUST to catch the baddies! You gotta be making it fun for everyone while you are. Give the Antagonists of a round time to make their preparations and plan, you’re here to tell a story, we give each other motives in our story, we don’t just want to “win” the round. Of course, always remember to use your caution and your ticket PDA feature. It’s incredibly helpful for minor crimes, and it’s really fun to throw tickets at people.

What game improvements or changes do you think would benefit security players?

This may be a personal thing, but I absolutely ADORE the idea of a more melee-focused Security kit that isn’t two batons. I’m imagining something more like the miner’s concussive gauntlets, where pushing someone once dazes them, and another time knocks them down for a short period. The downside to this would be that it can’t hold much of a charge, so you gotta be ready to switch to your baton to keep them down.

On a more PRACTICAL end, I think it would be good for the Security staff to have an easier method of transporting off-station criminals back to the station, other than the portabrig. Their ships would have something that allow you to shove a criminal in handcuffs into the driver seat, replacing the cargo hold and acting as a much easier method of moving criminals around than the porta-brig moving back and forth.

Answer one or more of the following fun questions (because it's important for the HoS to be fun):

Write a poem to convey your thoughts on security/NanoTrasen/space/bees/anything related to SS13.

Sullen security on a hardened path,
Lone officer in the aftermath,
Her barrier in hand, baton in other,
Looking upon her lost, poor brother.

What's a security gimmick that you've ran or wanted to run?

I’ve really been considering the idea of running a Security training camp, so to speak. I’d organize officers to go against each other, first to handcuff their opponent winning. It would help train them in their equipment and also be a fun competition. After all the potential matches are concluded, the officer with the most wins would get a pay raise.

Previous bans (while this will not affect your application lying about it will): No prior bans from my actual behavior, have accidentally caught a few bans because of a VPN! I have been bonked a few times by admins, and I take it to heart every time I have.

+1 for Kendra Huang. I've played a few rounds with her, and it's always a joy. Fun, communicative and toes the line between being an officer and being a person pretty well. My experience as antag with her has been nothing but positive, as well as an officer. I've also seen her go from being a more passive officer to an active one, taking the role of leader in situations where Security seems scattered, whilst still remaining in line and not bossing people around. I'd very much be looking forward to seeing Kendra wear the beret in the future, as well as the shenanigans she'd get into because of it.

All-in-all, no problems with her, and think that she would be an amazing addition to the list of Security Heads. (Also, really like the idea of a more melee-focused sec-kit.)

So, while I have not seen Kendra Huang in sec VERY long as they are a new character I have seen them many times and worked with them while playing security and am definitely supportive of them as a HoS. While in security they don't take it PURELY seriously and are able to make light of some of the rounds that feel longer but have shown to me they are good at communicating and antagonist interactions. The most important part for me is Huang's player seems to be able to handle the more stressful rounds where communication can break down and more than a few explosions occur leaving everyone more than a bit confused and freaked out when too much is going on.

In short, +1.
