Complaint Ban by LeahTheTech today. IDk the exact time
#1
I just recently got banned for a day by LeahTheTech and yes its not much but still i find the game very fun and i dont wanna stop playing just because somoene disagrees with my viewpoints. I cant put a appeal in for 24 hour bans so i didnt. On the reason for the ban. I installed only human law and the ignore orders law into ai. I didnt know you werent allowed to install those into the ai and i did it with good reason (in my eyes). The crewmembers (heads mostly) were incompotent in my eyes. They HIRED TWO salvagers while they still had all their gear on them resulting in our SMES getting stolen and salvaged. I recommended death as punishment. The heads of science and a security officer didnt agree and with no HoS and our captain not responding and since i hold higher authority over the head of science i told them to throw them off the ship. They didnt listen however and let them be exiled to nomad. Which after only 20 minutes they had already returned from. I saw this as enough reason to take control and bring down order and what better way to do that but make the ai listen to me only by using its laws. If im not allowed to use them why do they exist. Why keep laws if i cant use them. I dont see this as my causing death with the ai or uploading murder laws as the Rules state. I dont kill anyone and i only uploaded it so the ai would listen only to me. I didnt have the intentions of using them to kill any non antagonists i just wanted to rule with an iron fist. Yes i do agree i should not be playing out a power fantasy and i will not do it again since it brings other players no joy. But ive been killed because of incompotent leadership before and i dont want anyone else to die by it aswell. I just wanna say im sorry my viewpoints and way of playing bother other players so much i truelly dont mean to. Its just the way i play games.

This is a ban appeal posted to the complaints forum, if you have any actionable things you think I/we did wrong then please say so, otherwise I don't see that there's much to do here. Uploading laws that allow the AI to murder the crew as a non-antagonist is very clearly grief and you have SO many notes for minor griefing at this point.

This isnt an appeal its an apology not to you but to the crew of that round. and if we are talking about track records scrolling through the forums u seem to have a record of banning people you simply dont agree with so dont go talking about my records. It wasnt to murder crew it was to keep the ship safe from salvagers. On another note i never gave an order to AI to hurt anyone i simply gave it the order to stop people from touching the law rack. If anything the grief would have been me putting ai room on lethal not slotting in the laws. I want you to reflect if a day ban over a simple mistake was worth it? i am new to the game and only started a week and a half ago. I didnt know that was a kill law i just wanted more authority

Also nowhere in the rules is it stated what a Kill law is. its just says not to install them. How do i know which one is a kill law?
I genuinly just wanna play the game. Ur wiki being not informative and willingly neglectfull of anyone that does know the exact rules is childish and doesnt help in making a better community. And it does this through the quote "Not knowing the rules isn't an excuse for breaking 'em!". If you could simply talk it over with another admin and see if they agree with ur choice after seeing my side of the story i would be thankfull. This however is an appeal since 24 hour bans arent allowed to be appealed. So lets see it as a reassessment of your prior choice.

You're right in that normally we wouldn't ban a new player for mistakenly uploading a rogue law. However given that you've already been warned twice by a different admin for breaking silicon laws, I think it's reasonable to assume you should have looked up how they work by now.
In case you're still confused: making yourself the only human makes everyone else on station not human, meaning the AI and all cyborgs are free to harm them at the slightest provocation, which is a very bad thing for a command member to be doing. The fact that you then turned the turrets to lethal and said "; Ai stop everyone from getting inside ur lawrack" makes me think you did indeed know this at the time.

I told the ai to do that because the crew had already thrown out the law i made telling the AI salvagers arent human and i didnt want anyone messing with them again. I did not look into the laws further than the original three and i only have one prior offense relating to sillicons that i remember. I had no idea which laws i couldnt and could put in the law rack. I am pretty new to the ai stuff as i had only played as ai once or twice and i killed a crewmember on accident while fiddeling with the turrets. The admin acknowledged that and i didnt harm anyone as ai again. Just because i played AI doesnt mean i know anything about the murder laws. i havent looked into it as i was playing as engineer for a while since i was interested in all that stuff. It was a genuine mistake. And i ask which laws are considered kill laws as i still do not know. is the only human one?

There isn't a list of what law modules you are allowed to use or not, since pretty much every law module can be used for legitimate purposes or to get the AI to murder the entire crew. You have to read the law you're uploading and consider what that law will cause the silicons to do/be able to do.

I uploaded the laws with no intention of harming anyone on the crew making or allowing them harm i just wanted people to be more cautious of antagonists and punish them more severly. Im sorry i accidently uploaded a kill law but isnt a day harsh for a genuine accident. My goals were clear and i have the first law i uploaded to prove that i just wanted the salvagers to not be able to come onto the ship by making them not humans but they threw the law off the ship and i used the ones at my disposal. PLease Reassess the choice its a genuine mistake and a day is harsh in my unproffesional opinion.

It's a day ban, my dude. A relatively light slap on the wrist type thing, given out as part of a sliding scale of escalation of corrective actions.

My advice is to read the wiki, and ask other players both in game, on the forums, and in discord for advice and clarity.

We even have a special player role and chat group dedicated to this purpose. It's mapped to the F3 key
