Synopsis:
Alright, so let's talk about Glowbold and why his constant nitpicking has made playing on this server way more frustrating than it needs to be.
This was my first round playing as an antagonist today, and right away, he was questioning every little thing I did, as if I'm the only one pushing the RP limits. It was like he had a personal issue with how I played, even when I’m following the same patterns I've seen countless other traitors use.
First off, he PMs me about using a sleepy pen, saying that it doesn’t foster character interaction. Since when does every antagonist action need some deep emotional buildup? I asked if escalation was required, but instead of explaining, he just doubled down.
Then later, I get questioned for throwing two people into the grinder. One of them was SSD, and the other wasn’t even responding. What am I supposed to do, sit there and give them a monologue while they ignore me? I even took their hat just to see if they’d react. Nothing. That’s not RP, that’s dead weight. Instead he decides that I’m the problem here.
Meanwhile, there’s a wizard running around turning chairs into murder machines, and that’s apparently fine? Where’s the "sense of dread and obvious motive" in that? If anything, my actions made more sense in the RP setting than random furniture coming to life and killing people.
On top of all this, it was impossible to properly roleplay when I had to stop and consistently answer his PMs midgame. How am I supposed to stay engaged in the game when I’m constantly being pulled out of it to defend myself? The more he interrupted, the less I could actually interact with other players, which is ironic considering his whole issue was about fostering RP. It turned half my round into an admin back-and-forth instead of an actual game.
And instead of having an actual discussion, he shoves the RP rules window in my face like I haven’t read them before. It’s condescending and completely unnecessary. If he actually wanted to help, he’d explain his logic properly instead of just saying "read the rules."
After this round, I felt like if you’re not doing it exactly his way, you’re going to get PM’d into submission. This kind of behavior kills the fun and makes the server feel less like a game and more like a courtroom. Which is why I felt like this needed to be brought up, because if this keeps happening, the server’s just going to feel more restrictive and less enjoyable for everyone.
Logs:
Admin PM from Glowbold Drive-by sleepy-penning does not foster any character interaction.
Reply PM to-Glowbold: does it have to be escalation?
Admin PM from Glowbold Give people a sense of dread, an obvious motive, or some means of roleplaying and reacting, before you harm them. If you're not sure how to escalate using an antag item, please don't use it on the RP server.
Admin PM from Glowbold Please explain why you just tossed two people into the grinder, one SSD, with no RP.
Reply PM to-Glowbold: they weren't responding to me.. i'm a traitor and i'm supposed to kill?? is this not perfectly normal? i've watched almost every traitor do similar things when i was killed or been spectating them. why do you keep bonking me for these things??
Admin PM from Glowbold Grabbing and throwing people into the grinder without letting them talk is not okay. Let me refresh you on our RP rules. (the rp rule window was triggered)
Admin PM from Glowbold In particular, carefully read over RP Rule 2. If you would prefer killing people without the extra RP rules, please join our classic server.
Reply PM to-Glowbold: one of them was disconnected from the server. i gave the other person plenty of time to say something and even took their hat to see if they would even respond. they didn't. therefore they weren't even roleplaying
Reply PM to-Glowbold: because i couldn't even talk to them
Reply PM to-Glowbold: there's a wizard going around making inanimate objects attack people. why are they not following similar rules?
