Change the door ID hack behavior
#1
I've been told that doors were given their new hack behavior of having to be clicked to open in order to discourage hacking them, by making it more obvious to higher level crew... but honestly, have NEVER seen that be the case. Captains and other heads will waltz right on by without even bothering to raise the issue, again and again. On top of that, it's not only an annoyance when trying to navigate different areas while carrying stuff, but it also confuses new players into thinking they just can't pass through. This does more harm than good.

Therefore, I suggest removing the forced click-to-open, and making it so that it emits an obvious "malfunction" sound when used, to signify the hack. Maybe also some flashing yellow lights on the panel, I dunno.

Honestly I'd be more inclined to go the other way and give doors a chance to shock you when the ID wire is cut. People should be concerned that some untrained assistant just came up and started cutting random wires in their airlock!

I disagree. When it comes to lowpop, cutting the ID wire is essentially a mandatory requirement, because this crucial department or that crucial department just isn't staffed. Nerfing is super hard just isn't a good way to go, you might as well remove hacking entirely.

Solution proposed prevents any way of silently hacking open a door even with correct wires. Currently, pulsing the power wire then cutting id wire stops door from making any sound when the id wire is cut(unless you have shitty rng with door shock). This solution would cause you to either have to crowbar a door which is loud, or cause an id wire cut sound, which is also loud.

Perhaps if this functionality became active after a short amount of time, say, 5 minutes, id agree with it, but not in its current state.

I mean it kinda isn't necessary? If you really need to remove access from a door, the HoP's Access pro can do that for you. Also it's kinda extreme to say that having to click a door instead of opening it makes hacking useless, since all it really does it make it a bit inconvenient to use the same hacked door multiple times (which afaik is intentional, as doors normally shouldn't be hacked open).
