Usual character name: Mike Poirot
BYOND username: Mike was taken
Discord username (if you are on our discord): Mikeistaken
Recommended by (if applicable): N/A
Goon servers you play: Highpop RP, as of writing Goon4
Reason for application + game experience (300 word minimum):
Reason for application:
I had always enjoyed helping other players in projects they are doing but I was always worried about what people would think of me if I did end up posting one, as of posting I have gotten over those fears and think I'm now ready for the position.
I have also been decently active on the questions channel on the discord because I enjoy helping others as I've stated above and I'd like access to more resources to continue helping others.
General Experience:
I've been playing on Goon for 2-3 years and have experienced a ton in every job. I feel like I know how most mechanics work although I still feel like I've got a long way to go before I know everything, as you may still see me asking complicated questions in the questions channel on discord, I'll go more in depth on the specified departments of the stuff I know as well as my experience in them
Medical Experience:
The medical department used to be my main a while back, so I have a vast amount of medical knowledge, although I've also still seen people use some wild medical practices to heal people. I'm also very proficient at medical surgery and have memorized all the tools and steps needed for every organ and limb to be removed, as well as a lot of ways to reduce damage and bleeding during surgery.
On the robotics side I know a ton of ways to fix and incapacitate cyborgs as well as how to do most things to a cyborg without a docking station. I know what cyborg players usually like and prefer so I will normally keep them at the ready for the cyborgs unless I'm busy.
On the genetics side I haven't spent much time, but I know how to work the console and a few effective methods to get materials and a small few combinations
Science Experience:
Science I don't really spend much time in so most of them are gonna be brief
In chemistry, there isn't much to say here. I know 1 or 2 secret chemicals and for most chemicals I follow the wiki on, save for a few.
In the artifact lab I know how most artifacts work, and how to identify them, I know what all artifact origins look like, and I know all possible ways to activate them, both with and without tools.
For the toxin lab, I know how to make a bomb with gas and a few methods to do so, the only one I don't know how to do well is making a single tank bomb. I know a few optimal gas mixes to get hot plasma, and I'm working on a potential method to get colder then space plasma.
Engineering Experience:
By far my most experienced job as of recently, I feel I'm quite knowledgeable in a lot of aspects in engineering.
In the repair section of engineering I know how to build quite a few things and I know how the tools assigned to the job can help with fixing the areas of the station.
In working with packets, mechcomp, dwaine, ETC. I'm extremely knowledgeable and can usually tell at a glance if something would be possible or not, however despite this statement I do not know everything and there have been people who surprised me with their builds. I can also usually reverse engineer builds to know how they work, provided the work is neat enough anyway.
As for the engines, I know the engines enough to explain the workings of them to new players. I can also work the engine enough to do both a passive working and an active working for all engines.
As for the quartermaster section, I know how to make a decent profit, fill most orders people have and read all the menus effectively.
As for mining, there isn't much to say here, but I know how to make a max mining tool and I try to get a verity of everything by pulling random asteroids.
Security experience:
I haven't played much security as of recent, however I do have experience, I know of the recommended brig times, I know how to optimal use most of the tools you can get in security excluding Armoury items, and I try and coordinate with my team as much as possible but I'm not so good at checking my surroundings and radio at the same time and I usually lack in one area
Civilian experience:
Another department I don't spend much time in, so most of my info comes from the wiki when doing civilian stuff. However one exception to this is probably botany, while I still pull stuff from the wiki for it I have made some unique plants and tried some gimmick ones as well like a life (Chemical) plant, however it failed due to me not finding a plant with 1 ingredient in the Strange Reagrent tree.
Antagonist experience:
Most of my Antagonist experience comes from Goon1 where escalation isn't a rule, so while I may have vast knowledge on the tools, I'm not very good at the escalation portion of being an antagonist, it is something I'm working on as of right now
Previous bans (while this will not affect your application lying about it will): A couple of times 1 or 2 years ago for griefing but I'd like to think I'm changing for the better. The more recent I've had one or 2 warnings
