An issue that often happens on lower pop is the station being understaffed, lacking doctors to heal people or engineers to fix things. Yet, sometimes in low pop classic shifts, you will have 0 engineers, 0 doctors, and sometimes even 0 command, but like 5 staff assistants. My suggestion is to limit how many staff assistants you can have at lower pops to try and get people to play roles that supports the station more, instead of picking staffie and just greytiding their way into places.

theres always the "all staffies make the best out of it, get the spare and promote them to a functioning skeleton crew".
But this situation require some special player preferences. I dunno if it would be good to give someone with command being unwanted roles suddendly a command role.

Yeah forcing command would definitely be bad, and tbh, even forcing any role, it's a game and they picked staff assistant because that's what they want to play. But at the same time, everyone going staffie in a low pop station also leads to everyone just breaking into everywhere and tiding AA, which is, imo, bad. Maybe it only forces non command roles like engineering or medical? I don't know.

I always see staff assistants as:
"If there is non, THEY HAVE TO STEP UP"
If they refuse.. why are you a staff assistant then?
