Ah, hacking. The staff assistant's favorite pastime, along with biblefarting, wearing a butt hat, and dying to a hull breach. However, it can leave a great deal of damage and annoyance in your wake when used irresponsibly! So here's how to avoid pissing off your local engineer!
The first tip is to hack cleanly. Nobody likes coming into their workplace and seeing every vendor/fabricator/door mangled with wires hanging out and spitting shitty items everywhere! Whenever you hack something, always make sure to leave it un-electrified, stable (safety light off for vending machines), and close the wire panel when you're done. Same with doors, make sure that only the needed wires are cut, and the bolts are up by the time you close the wire panel. If you need to budget hack (door hacking without a multitool), try to choose a door that barely anyone will ever use, such as one of two double doors in a random maintenance tunnel to find out the ID scanner wire.
Unless you have procured or spawned with the hacking tools (electrical maintenance crate, engineer prefab gear), it's polite to replace them when you're done, or otherwise restock where you found them. For example, taking all the tools from tool storage, but later restocking the general fabricator and providing electrical maintenance crates, counts.
Happy hacking!
