Drug Resistance Bioeffect
#1
similar to Alcohol Resistance, reduces the drawbacks of recreational drug use. Lower addiction chance, less debilitating symptoms.

Mirror bioeffect: Hyper-Metabolism. Increases addiction chance and symptoms, but also the potency of drugs-- drinking a cup of coffee will give you a buzz equivalent to a shot of meth. Good luck keeping it going though.

Does Alcohol resistance have a mirror bio effect? or would Hypermetabolism also make you incredibly drunk after one beer? This could be really really funny.

Also HyperMetabolism could be used with other drugs like morphine and some medical things. Increasing the effectiveness but also increasing the rate of addiction.

Injecticting someone with the standard medbay dose could maybe become an overdose.

One antitoxin pill becomes 5 antitoxin pills, etc.

Hypermetabolism could be really useful for medbay.

Right now, I'm dreaming that pathology finally returned, and diseases were set up similar to how genetics works. Every human mutation can be found in a disease, though with slightly different effects. Heat resistance makes the disease resistant to fever, so it's more dangerous. Cold resistance allows the disease to progress even if you put someone in a cryo tube, which would otherwise halt it. Drug resistance makes medicines take longer to effect a cure. And so on.

Or a nasty pathologist could inject genes from a human into the pathogen. Diseases that slowly melt you or light on fire would be vicious. Or a more kind scientist could inject good strands like hulk and they would spread to the crew via the disease. Prankster ones would just make people Swedish.

If Pathology does come back, I hope retroviruses are a thing. The two departments already have a common link in the monkey pen, so a bit of cooperation for mutual gain isn't a big stretch.
