Early shift blues

Remember those jobs and roles? The ones that take long to start up or get swamped at the start of the shift. Yea those...
Where their early game is just boring or annoying, but get great later on.
Tell me these stories. Where early on the shift just is weaker.
I can name several jobs where early on it's just: "Meh"

For me it's mostly early game rancher and waiting for your 1st chicks to grow up.
Then waiting to see if your chickens lay the right eggs.
While I love the craziness of breeding the ultimate chickens, the start at is a slooooooooooggg and by the time you get good chickens 50% of the shift is over.

So what role gives you early shift blues?

Playing artlab on rp, the first two artifacts are a lamp and an instrument.

I go over to QM to sell, no one is there. Maybe there is a person there, but they say there is no budget for buying more artifacts.
I desperately cry out to the mining department, but there is only silence.
I do not want to go to the debris field to get artifacts, my character wouldn't know where they are, and searching for things that you know the exact location of OOC feels stupid.

After 50 minutes of getting drunk at the bar I finally hear the radstorm siren.

Artlab is nearly always either 3 radstorms in 5 minutes, or in 80 pop 1QM and 2 SSD miners
