New Species/Mutation Idea: Crustacean Genetics
#1
With Abilities for backalley doctors and backyard scientists:

- While operating with one hand free your empty claw counts as a haemostat.

Convenient for trained doctors when operating on eyes/kidneys/lungs where they'll need to switch hands.

Very useful to the backalley doctor with no haemostat, expecially if he is prone to slip up due to his lack of medical training.

- "Molt Shell" Ability (Cooldown 90s):
Heal up to 15 burn/brute each, causes you to takes increased burn/brute damage at 1% per remaining second of the cooldown. Makes your sprite more pink as a visible indicator of your vulnerable state. The fallen off chunks of it will dirty your clothing and the floor.

Can push you out of shallow crit with the subsequent danger of an immediate 90% more damage taken.
Use it to top off your health after an accidental fireball or explosion at the chemdispenser without the downside being too at much of a risk.

Aesthetics:
Zoidberg claws (gloves are worn on the larger backjaw of the claw), triangular crab head, colorpalette between red and dark brown, snapping claw noises, blue hemolymph instead of red blood (like new roach change).

Quick thoughts needs some drawbacks . Has way too many benefits with no downsides.

An obvious but hard to balance drawback would be not being able to wear gloves, but that is way too much of a drawback compared to bovines.
Perhaps the "Witnessing injuries or violence" mechanic from the nervous trait but instead it has a chance to make you shred your gloves?

Or maybe something like a larger slowdown from being injured (or a lower health threshold for it)? That would be thematic for a damaged exoskeleton and give a good reason to molt even when a threat is still nearby.

Another obvious one would be a fumble chance when trying to pick up an item like the various critter arms. Don’t make it too common say 5%, just enough to be a nuisance from time to time.

For maximum crab simulation, crustaceans should only be able to move sideways
