I did one or two crappy experiments to see how things react.
First was penetration of a steel block.
The ship.

Second was a blade chopping through a steel plate, it was tough to get speed with the rotation of the ship's blade without just ramming it.

So clean, I didn't need a gyroscope or thrusters on the steel plate, it didn't float off into space.
